Thanks fot the reply, and you're forgiven for having started listening to CD's in the 70's 😂
So you reckon there has eventually been skips and a few seconds drop at the end on one disc...

I've made some statistics and it seems that the people in the US/Canada didn't mention issues other than gapless problems.
Whereas most of the EU units have some skips, drops, on top of gapless issues with V 2.1 at least...

This is a guess but most probably these (mainly black, not the earliest silver versions) first batches, were different from one region to another, and the EU ones show more issues than the US/CA ones.
Let's see if theses issues persist with later upgrades, V22 seemed to focus on gapless problem...
I thinks your statistics show more of the difference between folks in N America and Europe than technical issues with a little CD player?

I don't know, it is only a strange correlation in between the location and the issues people have.
You mean that the EU folks would me more picky about the behaviour of their unit ?
At least there is quite a few people on this thread that are really happy with the DM13

What I do know is that DM13 has been recognized by many.
We are often out of stock now and many agents can't order it so....

That's pretty telling already. :beerchug:

Of course, we will improve it quickly if people give us feedback.
Of course, the general idea, the design, form factor, specifications (battery, size, various outputs) is praised by a lot of people since it was announced, especially compared with the other products on the market !
Everybody says the sound quality is really good, no doubt about that.

I just hope it lives up to the promise of a smooth UI and playback... I still do wonder if some units/batches could be defective.

We all now the perfect CD player does not exist, but there shouldn't be any skipping, drops, and it was advertised as gapless, so it has to be fully functionnal (with brand new CDs as well as ones with minor scratches)

Hi, where did you buy your unit from ? is it black, silver, BT ? And are you encountering any playback problems ?
Thanks in advance for your feedback

Hi! I bought it on Fiio's Deutschland online store, the shipping was extremely fast. Here you have the link.

I haven't listened to a lot of CDs yet, maybe seven or so. Still no gapless issues fortunately .

I updated to the new V22 firmware and the gapless playback issues are fixed! My only other complaints so far are:

1. That the disc starts playing after closing the lid. I would prefer to press play to start playback instead of it autoplaying.
2. Sometimes once the disc starts playing the first second of audio is skipped, which means you miss hearing that second of audio.
3. I'm not able to connect the iFi GO pod in Bluetooth mode. All my other Bluetooth devices work, but the GO pod does not connect, and if it does it immediately disconnects.

Otherwise, this is a great CD player in my opinion. The sound is excellent, build quality excellent, shock protection excellent (even with ESP off). I haven't had any issues with tracks being skipped or any unusual issues like that which have been mentioned by some on here. Even my scratched CDs play fine. Buttons are also responsive, but I've noticed they need to be pressed in with just a bit of force, especially the Play/Pause button. This is better than being too sensitive in my opinion.

I'll be able to do a full review of the unit soon since I was mainly waiting for the gapless playback to be fixed. It's been exciting revisiting some CDs I haven't listened to in a long while.

for the “white skylight” version, the latest version of the firmware will be used :beerchug:
Scrunch Grumpgins was asking about the availability
Last version is V21 or V22 ?

You said earlier:
So, I would recommend that if you accept the current DM13, try not to upgrade as you may have to go back to the factory in case of problems with the upgrade, which will be a hassle. Unless you can't accept the current problems,

Do you mean, there are chances that the upgrade can go wrong and the DM13 could be bricked ? There is no "integrity check" of the bin file ? The firmware upgrade by the end user was not foreseen ?
