Once someone here gets their DM13, would you be able to test the sound quality with ESP turned on? I'm interested in buying this, but not if the compression is egregious.
I think you will be way better off buying one yourself to test it. Just get it from a place with a good return policy :)

preordered almost a month ago but there's a bit of delay in the debut and just received it near end Oct.

I got the silver BT ver. there's quite a lot of driving power from the 4.4mm out with alter ego. I just use it with vol 22 and there's plenty of loudness already. not sure if that's due to the CD ver or what, there seems quite a lot of bass impact from the recording (comparing with different music I heard from my R9, BTR7, BTR15, etc.). i only have 2 CDs left (thrown away hundreds CDs years ago when I last moved from my old home . . .) but both suffering from skipping and reading difficulties on certain particular tracks. both are hybrid SACD, not sure if that matters.

if DM13 could works with a remote, than it will be a great convenient feature too!

on charging, despite there's no signal on the display at all, after about 45mins charging from BAT3, my exinno 300w charger turns out able to charge it and got it to BAT5 (full) so not just standard charger will work.
Purchased by users outside of China?
I don't know what kind of channel you purchased it from, it's quite out of line with our requirements

However, the problem you mentioned that the disk reading will lag can be solved by upgrading the new firmware. We have a user base in China that can easily fix it.
The ones currently on sale abroad, which are black, use the latest version of the firmware, and the ability to read disks has been greatly improved.

Another point, this is currently the best movement, the best state, in fact, even the best movement can not guarantee 100% of the reading does not lag, mainly depends on the state of the disk! :beerchug:

oh yes. i bought it from AD in HK. miraculously, the skipping problem disappeared when i switched the iem from alter ego to erebus or RN6. i knew this factor seems totally unrelated to disc skipping . . . maybe it's just coincidence or maybe it's just after charging and power cycling a few times that help? anyway, now the same disc played through without a hitch. i turned esp off and could still walking around my apartment with the cd playing uninterrupted. but honestly i think in the old days, discman also has similar reading anti-vibration capability. but the driving power from dm13 seems a big jump from the old discman. i tried pairing with T1 3rd gen on vol 33 and the experience is very enjoyable.

i visited your cn website but couldn't find any updated firmware available. could you shed some light on this?

and if possible, please add the notification or indication for charging - it's really a big missing out not able to know if i got my dm13 charging or not.

The only reputable place I know to buy the DM13 is AliExpress, and I can’t be bothered to risk trying the ESP sound quality, being disappointed in it and dealing with customs trying to return it.

Really? Surely a US based retailer will have it in stock at some point? Is Fiio not represented locally with their other products at a reputable place now?

If you’re moving around that much to need ESP, are you really critically listening at that point? If so, just use a dap.

I guess we could send the updated firmware to the HK agent so he can tell you to upgrade the DM13 he sold.

Or if you can read Chinese, it can be sent to you via private message, although I'm not sure if it can be sent via private message :beerchug:
