[FiiO BTR17/BTR7] True Lossless Bluetooth, Portable Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amplifier BTR17 Is Officially Released!

I would bet a specific BTR7 thread would be dead by now and participants would beg for the threads to be merged. The "Unwatch" button is always one click away after all. My popcorn is always warm, though. :xf_wink:
Cheers to chaos. :beerchug:
I disagree - it may not be *as* active, but it would still get occasional posts. And explain to me why would BTR7-only owners would give a crap about missing BTR17 content, which they could go and look at any time they wanted to in its own thread? 🤷‍♂️

For me - I own a BTR7, am not interested in the BTR17, and don’t care about it much. All of this BTR17 talk is just clogging up what should be a BTR7 thread, especially when a dedicated BTR17 thread already exists. Unwatch? No, I am still here for when actual BTR7 content shows up.

Also on Android I have now LE audio available with BTR17, when enabled app stops working, and BTR17 shows LC3 codec. Is app expected not to work while LE audio is ON?

Is that right?
Thought I have always been able to use "D.MODE" without anything connected to either USB Ports (Black - "USB", Orange - "POWER IN") just by keeping the "D.MODE" Switch in the "ON" position (I assumed it was Hard-wired and only means to send a Feedback signal to the Control ICs) while the Mode Switch is in the "BT"/"PHONE" position, it will just be "quieter" because there's no External Supply (Orange - "POWER IN") and useful to like not let the DAC sucking power off of my Phone while in "PHONE" mode connected by only the Black - "USB" Port.
Yesterday i tested like this on 0.51 firmware:

Hardware switch d mode on
Main usb plugged in to charger(black usb port)
The dekstop mode is not activated on the screen(no lightning icon on the left)

Switched the usb to power in(orange port), instantly desktop mode activated, notif on screen, and lightning icon appears on screen indicating d.mode active.

Then the new firmware 0.62 listed that it allows d.mode activation on the main usb(first scenario above) too, that would be like ka17 which desktop mode can be activated regardless of the usb port connected to charger.

I havent tested for btr17 yet, later i will when i get home and report here on this thread. Or maybe others can give it a try and chime in. Cheers

D.Mode required the use of an orange cable. This update has removed that requirement. However, this function does not work in Phone mode. However, the update information says it will work in both modes. However, I will test it fully when I have time.

When I put the BTR17 in computer mode while connected to the 15 pro max, D. mode works with a single USB, but I have not tested whether it gives more power as well as when connected to the orange cable.

And yes, hooray. With the BTR17 S23 Ultra, it no longer gives a power shortage warning in computer mode and I can switch to D.Mode with a single USB in computer mode. It strengthens the sound.

However, I haven't tested D.Mode with or without the orange cable. I will write here when I test it.

Fiio Ka15 is also a very powerful device and D.Mode was working very well on S23 Ultra and 15 pro Max. I was wondering why BTR17 can't do this. Now it seems like it can.

Same problem here. I can't connect after enabling LE Audio (pixel 8a 15). LC3 seems new, it didn't appear when trying the same with older firmware.

I tested it now after you told here. When I enable LE Audio on the S23 Ultra, I connect. When I close the sound and calls section, it connects but with the SBC codec. If sound and calls are on it definitely won't connect.

I could see LC3 on the S23 Ultra before the update too.

Unfortunately, D.Mode does not work in phone mode. It just says "Charging is disabled when D.Mode on.

I mean it's literally called Desktop Mode.

In other news LC3 connects ok with my Zenfone 10 (including the app) but the audio quality is very poor. I'll investigate further for a bit but I don't really care much about it tbh.

Yes, it should be like that or there is a mistake or I am wrong.

I just tried it in my car, but unfortunately D.Mode doesn't seem to work even with a cable. The D.Mode icon and a warning that it has switched to D.Mode appear, but it has no effect on the volume. This is the case with both the S23 Ultra and 15 pro Max. I tried it in both computer and phone modes, but D.Mode still has no effect. This is the situation when I connect the Aux output to the car. Previously, D.Mode had a serious effect.

It only works when Bluetooth is connected.

When I get home I'll try it with iems, if necessary I'll reset it to factory settings and try again. If anyone tries it here, please write to me.

I found the problem guys. The problem is EQ bypass. D.Mode works well in other eq modes.

When I switch to computer mode while connected to the phone, D.Mode works without connecting the power cable. D.Mode does not work in phone mode without plugging in the power cable.

Eq bypass also overrides Gain setting. I have mentioned this to Fiio before but the problem still persists. Gain adjustment does not work when EQ is in bypass.

This is making my head spin. There are 24 (?) different combinations of switch positions and port usages (and this doesn't count gain and EQ modes). Gotta try to play around and figure it all out... ;)

It's actually not that difficult. There are many people here who try different combinations and when issues are made, we try them and write about our experiences.

I think that normally a user would not use BTR17 with so many different variables.

Basically there are Computer, BT and Phone modes and desktop on/off mode.

There are still bugs in the firmware and Fiio Control app, so we're actually left reeling. Otherwise, it's a simple device.

Seems like D.MODE activates if I use the BTR17 via a single USB-C port with my S23 when using the PC mode, as well as when using BT mode.

It has an effect on the sound, you can turn the D.MODE switch off/on to notice it. The effect seems the same when in PC mode as when in BT mode.
