so i'm just getting in to the audiophile world and im wondering what are the favorite rap albums audiophiles enjoy

for me its

4. nwa - straight outta Compton
3. wu-tang clan - enter the wu-tang (36 chambers)
2. the roots - do you want more ?!!!??!
1. the roots - come alive live

"Relapse" Eminem
"Relapse Refill" Eminem
"Ready to Die" Remastered Notorious BIG
Any remastered album by Tupac ; All eyes on me, Me aginst the world, ect... Very well produced and layered in instruments and vocals

I am a fan of 50cent but the quality of the recordings does not equal any of the aforementioned.

There are only two that I've kept in the long run:

3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul, and It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, by Public Enemy.

They're the only ones I've found worth repeat listens. I make an effort to listen every so often. Some rap/hip hop is catchy or poignant, but usually comes up empty in the end.

Doom - Born Like This is his most recent (2009) but if you find yourself liking this all his other stuff (under MF Doom name) is well worth a listen. I enjoy it all. Great flow & humour, love the samples, REALLY love the samples!

Outkast - Stankonia

Jay Z - The Blueprint, has had 2 follow up Blueprint albums that imo, dont come close, this is the one. Neat production, great mix of tunes. Eminem appears on one track. Well worth a listen.

2Pac - All Eyez On Me

I have saved the best for last;
Notorious BIG - Ready To Die. His 1st album and imo his best. Probably my favourite rap album ever. Imo he had the most perfect "rap voice" I have ever heard. A rap legend, this is why on youtube there are up to the minute comments like "King of NY", "RIP Biggie" etc. This is THE benchmark.

If you like the stuff on any of the albums mentioned, definitely go and check out their other albums. These are just my favourites, you may hate them, but love some of their other stuff.

 

[Deep Funk]

Souls of Mischief - 93'Til Infinity: I have the standard album and the instrumentals on a copy. I find this album better than Illmatic just for the instrumentals and the vibe of it all.

Illmatic - Nas: really good.

K-os - Exit: I really find this album genius for its genre winding sound. 'Superstar PT Zero' just blew me away.

Otherwise I just dig old school and original hip hop.
