Fake Senheiser IE800?
Oct 1, 2020 at 2:56 PM Post #391 of 454
How much do you want for em?
Let me first explain: My intense "experimental" phase this January has led to 3 "IE800" products:

a) Just an IE800 fake as discussed here, with "Sennheiser" box and everything else (see pics below). Like a real Sennheiser IE800, just not being one . I bought it on Ebay but have forgotten for how much exactly (estimate 200 Euro).

b) From the specialized Chinese clone vendor DIY Labs (honest guys not claiming originals) product 1: IE800 Earbuds for Audiophile ElitesRated 5.00 out of 5 $89.99 – $134.99

c) From the same vendor product 2: IE800 Earbuds with Tesla Divers, MMCX Connector and Detachable Bluetooth CableRated 5.00 out of 5 $59.99 – $139.99

You can look at b) and c) via the links, and I've added the explanation below from the order confirmation. As you see, both together were 275 USD plus shipping.

So you might consider what is of interest to you (a, b, c, or any combination) and make me a proposal. If you want via PN. Insured shipping to the UK would be 12 Euro.

I just received a set of these IEM’s and I’m pretty impressed!

I have the Shure se535’s so opted for the Shure se846 shell with the Tesla XWB drivers instead of the IE800 shell.

For around $120 bucks or whatever they were, they are a steal of a deal I’d say.

Which leads me to pointing again to my previous offer in #391, both for these type of DIY-Labs-IEMs and for my fake IE800s.

But meanwhile I've finally settled to an original Xelento Wireless, and therefore I'm offering here the contents of my experimental phase.

Ok so I was actually lucky enough to get a pair of used ie800 for only 130$, I am pretty sure it's authentic. The serial number is before 20000. To be honest I think the fake one I had before was actually better than this. I know some people would not like to hear this but this is true at least for my personal preference. The authentic ie800 is definitely harder to drive, if you use it with smartphones tablets or laptops, the fake one is definitely better. I don't have my fake ie800 now but I remember I was shocked by that fake pair and thought it was authentic, and now it is opposite, I fell like What when I listen to this authentic one. Using a powerfull dap it's much better but still I don't think it's really ahead of the fake one. The main difference between those two are driveability and vocal performance. The authentic ie800 has terrible vocal/mid range performance it almost feels like there is a big hole in the middle of the soundstage and everything there including vocals just get vanished. It might also has something to do with early ie800s being different from later ie800s because I remember my roommate's ie800 was't that bad for vocals.

For people being in a similar position like you, I would like to point to my offer some posts ago (#391).

This can be got individually as 3 different flavours, but also as a 3-IEM-bundle of one "true" fake, and two well-done clones, as described. So the buyer can test, what fits his taste best. I hope at least one of them...

I have gone away from my own IE800 experiments because I have settled with the Beyerdynamic Xelento Wireless. Similar in principal sound signature to IE800/IE800S, but a tad better (IMHO), and it has the fulminant personalisation software Mimi on board in firmware.

Xelento is quite different from ie800 in my opinion, I would say it has much normal sound compare to ie800. Although the sonund stage is not as big as ie800 and the bass might be too much

The perception of sound has much to do with personal taste. Some external tests came to the conclusion of a comparable sound signature (Xelento vs. IE800/IE800S), and I found this to be true. Re the bass, the IE800 has a profounder and more "visceral" bass compared to the Xelento, not the other way around.

Brand and product piracy is a problem that demands to be taken seriously. Product imitations may be similar to the original at first glance, but actually having nothing at all in common with it. The materials used, the durability and the sound properties of the copy are very much inferior to Sennheiser standards. The counterfeits are of poor quality, or do not function at all. The dealers rarely offer any guarantee, so there is no recourse for the disillusioned customer.

Counterfeit brand products do not just exasperate customers – they also damage the Sennheiser brand and the industry as a whole, and result in the loss of jobs. This is why we are doing all we can to protect you from counterfeits. Only the purchase of a genuine product will ensure that you get the good quality you desire.

How can I avoid purchasing a counterfeit?
When purchasing Sennheiser equipment, we would advise you as a matter of urgency always to go through an authorised dealer from the Sennheiser network. This way you can be sure as a customer that you will be getting a top-quality original article, backed up by full customer service.

For the most part, counterfeit Sennheiser products are offered for sale at internet auctions or on specially created webpages. We are working actively to live up to the quality standards we set for ourselves, and to give our customers the Sennheiser quality to which they are accustomed. We therefore aim to publish the names of such websites in future on a Black List.

Hello guys. I need your help determining if these are genuine or not. I found these locally and the guy despite not having a proof of purchase can guarantee me that they re genuine and will take them back if they are fake. The guys seems to be honest but I’m worried that he was tricked in the beginning.
To my eyes they seem to be genuine but I’m worried since there seems to be fake/knock off made with original parts like the earphonediylabs. What do you guys think? Also what is the contact to Sennheiser for fake products? I used the website two weeks ago but haven’t heard anything from them.

They do tick all the boxes. In therms of sound they do sound airy and sparkly so it also check that box. One thing I was suspicious is that a lot of people describe them to be bassy but I can’t agree with them. These are not bassy at all. I mean. They have bass for sure but wouldn’t consider them bassy.

They look genuine to me. Did it come with box and accessories

Yer that would be good but from the pics they look good to me. Fakes come in shrink wrap box and genuine comes with clear circle stickers on the back of the box. I dont know how fakes are these days but hope that helps

Well, bassy or not very much depends on what you used to hear, which gear you used before. Ie800 doesn't have a impactful punchy bass in my opinion, if that's what you consider bassy it's definitely not. Its bass is soft and reverbs quite a bit(slow response), that could be bassy for some people. BTW the actual amount of bass you get also highly depends on how much power you give it. This thing is harder to drive than most of the iems I have used.
