My pick would be the Fearless S8 in that price range. Has the warmth you want - and the detail. I don't find the treble to hot - but YMMV.

I've grown quite tired of my FA7. They are starting to give me a "claustrophobic" feeling because of the really tight bass and absolute isolation (headache after a while). Really missing a dynamic driver.

What are good mid tier options with a dynamic driver? I already had the FH5 in the past, found they sound"muddy" at times with a lack of detail and separation. I was looking at the Oriveti OH300 but they're quite hard to get from Europe.

Thanks. I've looked at those. They only seem to be available from AliExpress, who traditionally don't send To Jersey, Channel Islands. Have you reviewed the FA1s as yet? Would be interested if you had any EQ suggestions for them.

I don’t EQ them - pretty much like them as they are. For most people a little lift in the sub/bass is all the’ll need.

Moondrop KXXS might fit your preference if you want less bass. Also check out tanchjim Oxygen.

My other IEM for a fun sounding is the Audiosense T800, its 8BA but has a sub bass rumble similar with a DD, its very detailed. I use the FA7 for a laid back listening, with the ISN audio S16, it helped in removing the veil in FA7 and largely improve the details, I realized how bad the stock fiio cable is.

help.i use the double flange tips which are (for me) the best sounding and fit, however after some use they come off in the ear (loose fit) and i want to know of any more suitable (tighter fitting) double flange tips for the fa7.

any experiences/ideas

thank you

Dear friend,

FA7's maximum size of the sound tube is 5.5mm. So it's recommended to buy ear tips whose inner diameter are between 4-5mm. You may try to compare some other double flange tips in Aliexpress or Amazon.

Best regards

Still enjoying these earphones but unfortunately the cable has developed a small defect.
I mentioned a while ago that the cable is quite stiff and the lack of flexibility seems to have resulted in the sleeving coming apart from the internal wire.

I'd like to see this fixed but I'm afraid that getting another cable of the same type will eventually lead to the same issue.
The earphones have been treated carefully, used in a stationary position only, and are only half a year old.
Any ideas, FiiO?

Thanks.

In answer to my own post above and in the absence of any replies, i bought a pair of spinfit cp240 and am very pleased. They fit slightly deeper than the fiio double flange and consequently fit better - also no chance of these coming loose and being left in the ear (which happened to the fiio double flange as they wore) as they fit more tightly on the stem

i bought a small sized pair as suggested by spinfit and they fit perfectly.

I've graciously received a replacement cable from the shop www.fiio.eu

To my delight the new cable is slightly different from the original one.
The original cable that came with the FA7 has an extremely stiff plastic coating on the cable that is prone to cracking, but the replacement cable has a much more pliable sleeving which hangs down naturally.
Not sure if there was a revision at some point but the replacement cable is much more convenient to use because it doesn't stand out at weird angles and cover your lap.

Took a pic for comparison: upper is the original cable; look at how straight it is compared to the replacement cable which can bend naturally.
I'm very happy with the new cable since it was my main issue with these earphones, which is now gone. :)

I suggest you change the stock cable that comes with the FA7 into a silver cable. Whoever thought of putting a copper cable with an already too warmly tuned iem?

I have put ISN S16 cable into my FA7 and it really helped lessening the mid bass bleed. It is now more detailed while still retaining its laid back signature. Jvc spiral dots also helped in lessening the mid bass bleed while retaining good vocals and making the bass tighter, unlike the stock bass tips that makes the vocals too nasal.
