All right guys, quick question. I have $200 and I'm looking to expand my collection ... into a collection. Right now all I have is the 595's. I've been reading a lot about these three and find them all quite interesting.

Don't worry about what I want, what would you do in my position? Take that $200, and pick up FA-003's, or split it up and go for both the T50RP and the M50's?

Sources will be a Rockboxed Sansa Clip+, a laptop, and a Total Bithead.

Do what I just did.  Buy both the m50's and the t50rps.  Do the extremely easy baffle/cup mod to the t50rp's, and then put the m50 pads on it.  I've got the m50's thump with more bass detail, and mids and highs that are insanely good now.  Modded t50rp's are an absolute steal if you got something that can give them the power they need to breathe.

Well a bithead, laptop and clip+ don't exactly scream plenty of power. I'd go for the FA-003 is you want something neutral. The M50 is a good buy as well but not as good as the M50 but they don't cost as much as the FA-003 either. The M50 is a pretty decent balanced headphone (not balanced as in separate grounds for L and R but in terms of what I hear)

Wait, what was that?

ohh..I mixed up the two headphones towards the end. I meant the M50 is a good buy but not as good as the FA-003 but that should be expected since the FA-003 is a good amount more expensive.

I would highly recommend the FA-003. The  T50RP needs a lot of modding to sound it's best and even at it's very best still doesn't beat the FA-003 IMHO. A cheap alternative to the M50 is the FA-004.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm pretty sold on the FA-003, due in large part to your glowing review, LFF, and the additional feedback that it has generated.

At 64 ohms, I shouldn't have trouble driving them, I think. I'm going to with a an old technics receiver (SA-303) and see if they impact the sound.
