I am interested to know from anyone that owns these or the ie300/ie900 have used both the 3.5 unbalanced & the 4.4 balance cables do they actually make a difference ?
It’s really dependent on your source. When implemented well, you can get increased soundstage as well as noticeable improvements in overall SQ. Going from single ended to balanced will generally yield greater gains than cable swaps, YMMV and all that.

It looks like IE900 went up in price. How much will be IE600 when they are released in US?
I believe it was stated earlier that there won’t be a price increase on the IE 600 when it eventually makes its way to the US.

I ruined my se215's trying to DIY CIEMs. Planning on selling my IER-M9's. Looking forward to giving these a listen since they are seemingly getting raved about by reviewers.

🙋‍♂️

Full disclosure I am with the house but have had the opportunity to listen with the 4.4 Bal and 3.5 Single ended on both now (and IE 600), and enjoy it very much. It's not my full-time configuration for these earphones as I most often pair with a SE source (Dragonfly Red), but appreciate the balanced option's extra nudge of depth and nuance. I do so much switching between Sennheiser headphones that 3.5 is my common denominator, but when the occasion calls, 4.4 rocks. For me, the analogy that comes to mind is that of taking the 1st sip of a freshly opened ice cold Pepsi (or beer or bite from a bag of chips or spoonful of ice cream, etc) vs the 2nd sip.

By the time you get to the balanced vs unbalanced part of the equation, you've hopefully managed other variables like source and sample rate/bit depth, etc, as you're looking to have a more critical look backwards into the audio tunnel. The sum of all of those other improvements makes going balanced more enjoyable and rewarding. Just my 0.02 cryptos.
Thank you for your reply looks like I might have to purchase a 4.4 balance sennheiser cable for my ie300s

Absolutely head first :). I just can't seem to get the M9's to hold a seal in my right ear while moving around. It's the same problem I had with my UM MESTs I have to believe at this point it's just that one ear since all is great in the world for my left ear... I have the 15 posts but can't seem to make a classified posting. If it's still an issue tomorrow I'll prob contact a mod.

I can't wait to buy IE600. How are they compared to IE800?

From a mechanical standpoint, the IE 600 resolves a lot of the criticism of the IE 800 by using MMCX connectors and an ear-loop design. Sound-wise, the 600 is tuned differently, with an intimate and engaging sound signature that will sound much fuller versus the 800. The 800 was smooth but couldn't hook you in like the 600 does with its sultry vocals and juicy bass. The 600 does the best job, IMHO, of balancing natural with fun, without sacrificing detail to do it. As the 600 becomes more available we'll see some non-Sennheiser opinions about those exact two earphone models, so stay tuned and sub to this thread! Cheers!

Do sennheiser ie600 benefit from burn in or is it not necessary ? I know its a debatable question who better to ask than a sennheiser representative.

We recommend you season the pan first, and then definitely upgrade to the hi-fi tears subscription in Tidal.

Kidding aside, they'll sound great out of the box, and from an engineer's perspective very little (if anything) about this transducer's behavior, will change. If you have a regimen you like to use (aside from physically cooking them haha) go for it - their sound will not degrade over any realistic operating life so there's zero harm in running a safe level of signal through them if they're not in your ears, just a loss of time that could be spent listening to them. Everyone's brain acclimates to a new piece of gear a little differently, and only you can decide if you want it to be a journey or a destination.
