Yes I did reach 200 hrs on my pair and do feel that the images are more distinct than when brand new out for the box. So less congestion as others are reporting. The thing I wanna add though is that after running it through its paces I am loving it on cheaper gear. My Klipsch heritage amp ($500 dac/amp) which through balance adds a touch of warmth works very well with the es-r10. In other words, you can enjoy this headphone on a more affordable setup as the es-r10 will help with the experience as it beautifies the music imo and its very easy to drive (using low gain on the Klipsch amp).

Also I finally got my z1r in the mail with the kimber axios cu copper cable. So I am currently working toward more a shootout at the moment between the es-r10, hifiman he-r10d, zmf eikon (the last closed back zmf I have not compared it to), and the sony z1r (which I've never heard before).

I was really bowled over by how well these do on my OTL tube amp. It must have ~50 ohms output impedance, at best maybe 30 - 40 ohms thanks to the 6BXT7GT output tubes (it was much much worse with 6SN7 outputs). So there will be a LOT of interaction with a 32 ohm transducer's impedance curve. But it fattened up the bass and midrange nicely without ruining impact, speed, and detail, and soundstage. I love that sound. You put 32 ohm Grados on this amp and they become a muddy awful mess in the bass, haha.

Then again, with reasonably lowered expectations these were also so enjoyable right out of a portable Sony 1A Walkman or iBasso 220 Max. Very different sound compared to the tube amp, but still impressively engaging for a transportable rig. The ES R10 certainly sounds better out of my ECP DAC and Max Balanced (solid state), but not THAT much better. Tubes & vinyl was where it really clobbered the portable rig for me.

We need a separate thread to report on amp pairings, perhaps?

I think here is fine. I mention ES-OMEGA a bunch of times. We can relate all products towards the ESR10.

I had a chance to buy that used at a great price but didn’t….now regretting that decision a bit.

I actually have a hard time convincing one of my audio buddy that this is a great and a meaningful purchase. The ES-R10 just kick the HD820 to the curb.
Yeah same here... Need to find an opportunity to poison him with a proper listen up against his Utopia

My non-audiophile buddy from Malaysia came to visit and enjoyed the R10.. although he still preferred the boomy bass from his XM4s 🤣

Here's him modelling the lovely headphones for me~ Man I love how the wood looks.
