Happy to trade some 12ax7 for some ATs:)

How about a pair of Siemens 12AT7 for a pair of your Telefunken or Mullard 12AX7? I forgot about this pair of tubes. It says Made in Germany !

Words doesn't count anymore, only actions or lack thereof.... :smiling_imp:
LOL! He bought his last amp a couple years ago. Wait...then there was just one more. Hang on though, this next one is the last. Ugh, maybe just one more.

I said the same thing about buying tubes in 2010. That was probably 500 tubes ago... 🤣

I had phono stage that used 3 12ax7s.
I have a stash of 12au7 from a preamp i had.
Use to have a lot of 12at7 for a phono stage, but sadly sold all.
Sad at the time of sale or now? 🤔

It’s the LAST. 😀

Ultima isn’t just any tube amp. So far only me, @Leicachamp and @xtiva have heard it and of course Eric.

Oh wait there were 4 Ultimas that were built including this Rolls-Royce version, which is what I am getting.

July 2021 was the last time I had a tube amp - Odyssey. 2023 was supposed to be Telemachus (300b) but it’s not to be.

Instead 2023 will be Ultima and I am equally excited.

I've got a few 1975 Voskhod and Reflektor 6N23Ps and to my ears, plugged into my GOTL's 6SN7GT socket, they are indeed mighty fine tubes. :)
Ken, do you have Voskhod and Reflektor 6N23Ps from other vintages? Can you tell a noticeable difference?
I would rather buy a cheaper year, unless audible difference is big...
(or unless you decide to sell a tube or 2 from your private collection )

Zachi before I make you spend more money, let's consider the 6P15P again. I have a slight preference of the 6P15P over the 6P14P (EL84 equivalent). Need to verify this again. Back to back with the Tung Sol 6f8g bgrp, the 6P15P is more revealing and has a light and airy touch that makes the Grado RS1X come alive even more...

They are both amazing sounding tubes but the 6P15P cost peanuts. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/275822456323?

The 6P14P is even cheaper. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/294899271018?

The 6P15P and 6P14P are just as important and good sounding imo compared to any of the double triodes.

There are not much difference between 6P14P and 6P15P. I like them a lot. If there are no other tubes, I would have been happy with them in WhispEr.

What are the sound characteristics of EL84 sound? If I may borrow Mojotone's description because I can relate to what they have written.

In classic British-voiced amps, EL84s contribute to sonic characteristics that we hear as chime and shimmer, with a certain glassiness in the highs, a balanced midrange, and a reasonably tight low-end.

@Zachik buy this pair and live happily ever after. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325661979736?hash=item4bd2f77458:g:uSwAAOSwbmZj66Ra

This has to be one of the best sounding tube I've heard in WhispEr. One of... and there are many. :relaxed:
I hate those click-bates... :unamused:
I actually thought you were serious. Sigh.
BTW, in the past, when trying tubes with top cap thingy - they were ALWAYS noisy in my place. Picking up interference from WiFi or radio or aliens or whatever! So, I would have avoided these even if price were reasonable.

Sounds good! Will definitely have 6P14P and 6P15P. Also, German EL84 on its way as well as RCA (US made) EL84 pair.
Between those 4 pairs - I may be all set
