Alright I was out for about 7 hours and in that time, I made an executive decision.
I will have an Ultima in wooden chassis (similar to picture below), upgraded teflon tube sockets, 6SN7 as base driver socket, extra 4pin xlr headphone output in addition to 6.3mm.
All connectors in front and at the back will be top mounted. Lastly I will have an upgraded ALPS blue velvet volume pot.
How do they sound? There was a time I wanted to buy every tube and adapters. So I still have a pair of these.
So... when will you declare that this is your last amp? Early next week? You are almost there...
Words doesn't count anymore, only actions or lack thereof....Ultima means a final proposal or last - Collins English dictionary.
How do they sound?
Matt have you tried 12ax7 on Ultima?
This guy spend some time evaluating 6922 or equivalent tubes. 1974 and 1975 Voskhod are featured in the top ten. Whether that is important to you is another matter. Mine is 1975 grey shield but I don't think it's the expensive variety. What does it matter, it sounds great !
Now you've a whole list of 6922, 6n23p, e88cc, 7308, e80cc to try. Good luck !

I've got a few 1975 Voskhod and Reflektor 6N23Ps and to my ears, plugged into my GOTL's 6SN7GT socket, they are indeed mighty fine tubes.
Thanks Matt. It's my one and only 12ax7 and it's made in Holland and has a white tip.
It's fired up now and at 100 mu, there is no noise with Grado RS1X. Gain is higher than 12at7 (60 mu) but this Amperex 12ax7 sounds great ! Amazingly sweet sounding. Sweet clarity is what I call it. Soundstage seems to be enlarged.
Keep listening 12 ax7!!!
It be great if 12ax7 turns out to be viable for i have a stash of Teles and Mullards in 12ax7
