With paint you can get any wood in the look you want, and it will look like a special wood.

The aluminium sheet doesn't really fit into the overall picture in my interior.
That's why I asked if he could do it.
I definitely like it better with the slightly lighter wood.

Ken, do you have Voskhod and Reflektor 6N23Ps from other vintages? Can you tell a noticeable difference?
I would rather buy a cheaper year, unless audible difference is big...
(or unless you decide to sell a tube or 2 from your private collection )

Here's a review of Voskhod 6N23Ps by the same guy: rb2013.

In short, he found 1974 to 1980 to be the best, and later production, 80's and 90's, nothing to get excited about.

Oh wow that 300B JR sounds like a winner.

I've more pictures for you. This layout looks great but Eric said that it's not a good idea to keep the output transformers so close to the power (mains) transformer. Chance of inducing hum / hiss is higher. If you look at his other amps, the power and output transformers are kept apart. However the owner wants it this way and he said it's pretty quiet with good tubes.

This is the reason Eric kept the layout for the wooden Ultima as shown in the picture above.

Yes those are Standard Silke. It's cheaper than Super Silke but Super Silke are for the full size amps, giving more power.

Over the years, Eric has done some special projects for customers. I'm not sure he still does that. He has better contact with Silk transformer - http://www.sacthailand.com/ than Hashimoto.

Amp designer use transformer supplier according to availibility and this change over time. Tomas stop using Sowter and Sowter was very good on my Odyssey. My Telemachus was supposed to use Monolith Magnetics.....

Here is a special 300b build with Hashimoto transformers. It's a stereo integrated amp as you can see and built in 2013.
