Thanks for the data point.
Theory: besides the theory that "a particular demo unit at Chicago" had a treble "glitch," maybe some people were expecting to hear the different drivers, and so they did? I'm not 100% sure Axel mentioned hearing it, but I do know he owns multi-driver speakers and IEMs, so a crossover shouldn't surprise him. Anyone who did hear it, I'd like to know which music tracks/what playtime on said track(s)?
Overall I'm still super stoked to hear it at RMAF. Mentions of "bigger soundstage" stokes the flames for me a bit
Just like the whole "treble glitch" thing, any analysis of the difference in sound between the drivers is going to get blown way out of proportion in this thread. Look, it's pretty smooth, but yes, you can tell the difference IMO. It is incredibly subtle, but there is a very mild grain to the lows and mids, whereas the treble is entirely grainless. I would say the level of grain is below that of a DT880 or maybe a K701/K7XX... It's entirely possible that this could be improved with a different cable, more burn-in or maybe a different equipment chain. YMMV, obviously. I'm sure many people won't even notice it.
And yes, the soundstage is enormous!!
