Impressive. I have to say though that I wasn’t impressed with the ARES II and the LX in general. Same goes with the Final E tips. While I love the monitors I don’t feel these tips and cable do them any justice. On the other hand, I think it pairs fairly well with the SE, preventing them from being too bright. SE paired with something like the Leo II was too fatiguing for me after a couple hours whereas with the LX it was excellent and I had to force myself to stop listening!! Makes me wonder how well the SB/1960 would pair with the SE…No, it did just the opposite. It opened up the sound stage and improve transparency significantly relative to the stock Ares II cable.
For my ears I’m willing to bet the 1960 would be my favorite with the SE but the 1950 would be more enjoyable with the LX. In turn, this makes me wonder if I’m making the LX a little more like the SE or the SE a little more like the LX, but both combos never quite meeting each other in the middle.

You and me both at the rate I’m going trying to find one on here.
A cable I'm trying for the first time tonight on the LX, based on a post earlier by @subguy812 is the PW No.10 8 wire, it's not a bank breaker, and he's right it does sound really great!
I never considered 8-wire cables only because they’re much thicker and bulkier than 4-wire cables. More than that, I hate the stiffness of certain cables, something I’d be very concerned about with your specific cable. Even with my Leo II I have to spend a couple minutes making it relatively free of little bends and twists. Thanks to my OCD (courtesy of Uncle Sam) I can’t stand when this stuff happens to my cables.A cable I'm trying for the first time tonight on the LX, based on a post earlier by @subguy812 is the PW No.10 8 wire, it's not a bank breaker, and he's right it does sound really great!

The No.10 is extremely supple (not a word I thought I'd use in describing cables, ever) kink free, better than my Leo/Thor.

which models are those cables? if there is no model "name" - what materials and # of wires?
Hit him up. He can pretty much make whatever you want. Top one looks like a copper/silver hybrid with heat treated steel hardware. The bottom looks like graphene-coated SPC with standard steel hardware.which models are those cables? if there is no model "name" - what materials and # of wires?
Tried stormbreaker on LX today. It’s... Meh. Better than Ares II for sure, but I would take 1950s over stormbreaker in a heartbeat. 1950s sounds more spacious with much better clarity to my ears. I personally would go for a @doctorjuggles 1950s clone if I were contemplating a purchase between the two.
Thank you. Ordered one. Looks a lot more compact than the one I have supplied by Empire. One adapter that a lot of people use here, and tends to be quite popular, is the DD-Hifi DJ44A. It is 2.5mm to 4.4mm and it is quite small and discreet.
He’s going to need a second opinion so you better send me that 1950 for another look. You have my address right?Tried stormbreaker on LX today. It’s... Meh. The stormbreaker does look nice with LX though
I love the No. 10 8-wire. Yes it's thick but very supple and soft, kink free and not microphonic. It's permanently attached to the LX. Well, at least until I get my hands on a pair of @doctorjuggles clones later this month.A cable I'm trying for the first time tonight on the LX, based on a post earlier by @subguy812 is the PW No.10 8 wire, it's not a bank breaker, and he's right it does sound really great!
