`
I’ve decided to up my dap game by ordering the new HiBy flagship, the R8, which will be shipping in a month. As such, I’m letting go of my AK240SS and have an interest check listed.

The HiBy is going to sell for $1,900, the one without 4G capability which I don’t need. I’ve owned four A&K daps, and it will be hard for me to leave this brand, but the SP2000 will be replaced early next year since A&K is on a two year refresh cycle for its flagship ... we’ll know because they will release a special edition SP2000 a month before an announcement on a new flagship. This is tradition starting with the AK120 Titan, the AK240SS, the AK380SS, the SP1000M Gold, and I do believe the SP1000SS as well.

The Odin even without complete burn-in, is, in my humble opinion, on a totally different level performance wise from my past experience. Seems fitting to have a source on hand to extract all the Odin is capable of.
Get yourself a 2.5 to 4.4 adapter from https://bloomaudio.com/collections/...3-5mm-or-4-4mm-adapter?variant=32710803914827 :metal:

Haven’t listened to the Tux5 in a while, but hopefully will get a chance to go through my collection this weekend. I do remember Tux5 having quite a bit of thump. I’m realizing I have not just way too many IEMs, but too many IEMs that have similar sound profiles/proficiencies that they render each other redundant. I need to do more listening, less collecting if you will.
Had the same feeling during this year when I decided to let go the Valkyrie and Tux5.

I actually may contact PWAudio to see if he will re-terminate my Odin cable with a 4.4mm. I’m not going to need 2.5mm any longer since all three of my daps (R8 pending) use 4.4mm.

David from Triton Audio Cablere-terminated a couple of 1960 for me, he did an excellent job and at a reasonable cost and very quick turnaround.

You can try Music Sanctuary in Singapore. They offer re-termination and they're authorized by PWAudio.

for what it's worth—Austin said that this is just to prevent people from like, soaking a tissue in rubbing alcohol and getting liquid into the IEMs. If you have those little sterile alcohol prep pads, those are both safe and very useful for this. I clean mine with one of these little pads after every use.

Despite what the manual says I use the same alcohol prep pads followed by a gentle microfiber cloth polish. Just be careful to not apply too much pressure.

@Jack Vang - any chance for a tour, now that many of us have no reasonably close place to audition? My closest location is probably TSAV in SoCal, and that is 6 hours away (each way). I would order custom version once it is available, if the treble is not offensive to my taste!

Despite the insane backlog of orders that need to be fulfilled I also understand the need to get these into more ears especially since there are no CanJams this year. I'll see if I can arrange something sooner with @Barra for a tour. Thanks for the reminder!

Stop praising the Odin. You’re gonna hurt their business!! Gawwd.

The last time I felt this way about a new purchase is when I bought my Raidho XT-1s. 🤪

@Jack Vang - should I consider putting screens on the end of the nozzles to keep earwax from getting into the five bore holes?

Not necessary IMO. I routinely remove and clean the tips while looking at the canal/bores to pick off any debris with the included tool. Should it ever get excessive or too deep don't dig down any further, use a vac or send it in so we can deep clean it for you.

I was planning on attending both CanJam SoCal and Chicago this year... Sigh. I miss CanJams
