we need an odin vs sultan matchup
Interesting. As much as I like the Nio I do agree it feels a bit lower in resolution that my LX-which I cannot compromise on as I value soundstage and detail retrieval too much, especially when its musical and warm. You mean the Nio I’m about to list for sale? Look and I mean no disrespect to any other manufacturer because this game constantly evolves... but Nio sales are about to get hurt... if you know what I mean. The Hero takes the Nio’s buttery smooth sound and just gives it that needed resolution bump. Not in a fatiguing way.. just added clarity. There’s also the treble there whereas the Nio rolls it off too much in some cases. Not to mention it’s $1349 vs $1699. So even if it sounded identical it’s still the smarter buy... but to sound a bit better? No brainer.
I'll be getting my hands on an Odin for Review next week, and I'll have a Sultan on hand for comparison. I'll try to provide as detailed a comparison as possible and I'll share the review in this thread once it's finished.we need an odin vs sultan matchup

Just demo the Odin and Hero with the Hugo TT2 and to my surprise no hiss!
The Odin has impactful deep bass and great energy at the treble end. The mid range is held back but I suspect the demo unit is still new and not had a good burn in.
Can anyone else comment on the burn in improvements?
The Hero has more resolution than the LX. More controlled bass and like you said, slightly more flashy treble. It’s forward but not too pronounced over everything. It’s just right. I have been sitting here for a while putting hero through its paces and comparing it to others.Interesting. If the Hero is relatively close to LX in terms of resolution with more controlled bass and a bit more forward and flashy with treble, could be a great complement. Thanks for the impressions and glad the trip was a huge success. And agreed, Andrew is the man!
The Odin comes with a PW 1960 2w. Could this cable be used with other IEM’s or is this cable specific to the Odin?
I’m hatching a plan here. I was saving for just a TOTL cable, but as Odin comes with one anyway, I could kill two birds with one stone.

I’d say that’s a pretty darn good mix for $1349.So, not to just jump on the hype train, but we just got our Hero and Odin units in at Bloom Audio, and since @Andrew DiMarcangelo is the boss he got Odin for first impressions while I grabbed the Hero. I was floored by the Hero as soon as I plugged it in. In the last two weeks, I've spent time with just about every IEM we carry from $350-$3000, working on various reviews, and this sounds like a TOTL IEM to me. I hit it with everything from Soundgarden to Sigur Ros and Ingrid Michaelson to Paramore and Herbie Hancock to Haken, my initial impression is that it has a mix of the natural character of the Solaris with the resolution (and maybe like 80% of the soundstage) of the U12t. I haven't seen the analysis of the frequency response, but I'm hearing sort of a soft "w" where it has nice accentuations in the bass, good presence and timbre with male and female vocals in the mids, and just a touch of sparkle in the highs.
I haven't had a chance to do side-by-sides yet, but, I'm thinking, dang, this is a pretty nice IEM.
Nope.. even @stephenkostas heard what I am hearing. The Hero has very good resolution and clarity.Really? Thats surprising! Given the driver count and the LX's status I would have still have expected it to trump the Hero in resolution.
Feels to me, directionally, the Hero could beat the Nio (obviously you already think so, @CL14715).Nope.. even @stephenkostas heard what I am hearing. The Hero has very good resolution and clarity.
