Eh, I could never really get into the Jedi Knights. Reload, however... Reload is gorgeous. "A Collection of Short Stories" is one of my favorite albums ever. (Not to mention the short stories rule!)

I'm not a huge electronica guy, but Why do people always hate on Crystal Method "Vegas"? I think its that whole "if it got mainstream its not good" thing...I think "vegas" is great...i don't know if kruder & dorfmeister is electronica, but "k&d sessions" is good.

I agree. I don't think most people discern the difference between.

"A great album that got mainstream because it was so good"

and

"a sucky electronica album that everyone heard of not because of it's greatness, but because it was in a Mitsubishi commercial".

(yes Dirty Vegas, this means you, your album sucks, no I didn't buy it, I gave it a test listen from the library first, it was bad).

Heck, I think Prodigy quit making CDs because people were accusing them of being "sell outs" just becuase they got popular. I think they ended up doing a "Fine, screw you, no more new CDs for you, you'll have to see us live if you want to hear us" response to that mentality.

This is why I listed both of them. Undergound music that was so good it became mainstream on it's own merits.

Exsqueese me? He's got a ****load of tribal/ambient as well. Check out his website. Quiet Music (The 2-CD Import) is really good. Michael Stearns is my favorite Space/Ambient artist. Shame really... he's doing more commercial works now than artistic albums. His last release "The Storm" was pretty good. Robert Rich is another favorite. You should try his sleep dvd Somnium.

Really smooth, exquisitely mixed, melodic "i'm on lsd and this cd is taking me places": Sasha and John Digweed - Northern Exposure
If you can find the 2CD import version, go for it, but the 1CD US version I have is absolutely stunning! It amazes me everytime I play it.

John Digweed - Bedrock is also an excellent album, has this "groovy" feel that I really never heard before in trance. It's Digweed's style, i suppose.

My next few purchases are probably going to be the remaining discs of the Northern Exposure series.

I dunno if any of you guys have mentioned it yet, but you really should check out Hybrids latest offering, Morning Sci-Fi. Excellent record.

How about Lab 4 - Virus for a bit of bangin stuff.

I'm surprised no-ones given a mention to one of America's finest, Jimmy Van M - his album Bedrock is a pure masterpiece.

Hallucinogen on dub is well worth checking out, great to listen to if your stoned.

For a bit of chill, check out Chicane's Far From the Maddening Crowds. This is a wonderful album.

Talking of compilations for a minute, theres loads of good ones out there, the Euphoria series, Tranceport, Clubbers Guide, Bonkers, Gatecrasher etc.

For some psy-trance ideas, go to www.chaosunlimited.co.uk a UK site dedicated to psy and goa trance. You'll find Shpongle, Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen, Loaded Banana's and loads more. The latest Infected Mushroom album, Converting Vegetarians is well worth a listen.
