Excellent review flinckenick, thank you and congratulations!... I owned the Velvet and the Sem6 and I totally agree with you about your comparisons with them.

This sums things up beautifully :)

@flinkenick
It took me a while to realize why the slogan for the S-EM9 was “discover how the music was recorded”, because its signature doesn’t come across as completely neutral, nor does it appear as if its intention is to sound as neutral as possible in the first place. Overall, The S-EM9’s signature finds a great balance between punchy bass, a lively midrange and slightly enhanced treble. But the audiophile properties are showcased in its technical capabilities, the imaging and dynamics: the precise articulation and decay of notes, its speed and energy.

(...) So I’ll add an extension to the slogan: Discover how the music was recorded.. by the artist - not the producer.

Thanks David and Sylvester, appreciate the kind words! I was almost going to ask to borrow one of your pictures sly, the one that ES uses. But it would have been confusing with a different dap :) I'll make some nice pictures this weekend at my friend again.

Our numbers are growing, great :)

I see from the LPG thread you're interrested in Onkyo DP-X1, I'll very soon be able to provide some feedback on synergy (once customs free them and let them come to the last 20km they're at since monday morning...).

I just put on the ALO Tinsel cable with balanced termination for my AK380 + Amp. It may just be switching to Balanced mode, but the clarity and thickness in the music has gone to the next level. "Wish You Were There" is sublime and addictive.
