Is that in reference to the amount of mids or his preference?

If I were to list out any particular order of preference for all the in-ears I've owned thus far, I wouldn't even know where to begin and end. I feel it''s all relative to my particular interests, which are always subject to change, especially when an entirely new sound is factored into the pictured. After all, nothing is absolute, and my interests/preferences are of course just as subject to change as anyone elses. Nonetheless, the EX1000 certainly is my most preferred in-ear, as of yet, while I would hold quite a few others in equal regards, opposed to one over the other.

I've mentioned it elsewhere however, my avater usually reflects my FOTM, which doesn't necessarily mean I hold that very same earphone to lesser regards if and when I replace my avatar; it just portrays whichever in-ear gets majority of my attention during that time. For the time being however, my time spent with both the RE262 and EX1000 each day is split pretty evenly down the middle (though a tad more to the RE262 since it arrived only days ago); unless of course there is a new arrival, to which I've decided to dedicate a good bit of time to, and of course, I intend to do just that with the upcoming GR07, K2 SP, and JH16's.

Due to preferences, for me the Sm3 is still tops (until i hear the EX1000 for myself) especially with its unique presentation and 'on-stage' soundstage which REEAAALLLY makes all my favourite music sound just so much more better and engaging. Others may not like this but given that I used to play in a band and still enjoy going to live gigs, that 'on-stage' feel is definitely something I crave for in my music.

FWIW, I played in two bands in the past (and later with other musicians, though not necessarily in a band context) and I still enjoy attending live performances.

As you well know, I never enjoyed the SM3s one bit and I never really heard them as if I was on stage with other musicians. Other IEMs - and specially the EX1000s - give/gave me a better sense of listening to the real thing, ie instruments & performances as they should, whether on stage or otherwise.

Like i said, until I hear the EX1000 for myself, which unfortunately I haven't.

You're entitled your opinion and preference, Music....as am I. Of course your, dare I say, disdain for the SM3 is quite well documented I would think. LOL. Until I hear the EX1000 or something else better to my ears, the SM3s are indeed (to me) the best-sounding universal IEMs I own / have heard.

^ If you're quite satisfied with your SM3s, that's perfectly alright, and for all you know if you tried the Sonys, they might turn out not to be your cup of tea.

Now, on a much more serious note, rather than keep thinking about trying the EX1000s, you should, or rather you must, start checking out some (more) KC music.  ;)

I think the Cowons are generally very good sources and have good built-in headphone amp circuitry. Plus the SM3 isnt very hard to drive so I would think the S9 is just fine.

This is what you said, right above. It doesn't matter if you used the word "looking" or something else - you are implying that these things are "better", without you even having tried one of them. Do you always believe what you read, no matter how insubstantial the source? Do you really think that you could even tell the difference between any of those players? I would suggest to keep off recommending (or name-dropping) gear you have no personal hands-on experience about.

I believing what I read on head-fi or on your site .. unless I'm some paranoid that think everyone is lying .. Meanwhile I haven't encountered alot of bad reviews about those three i "named dropped" .. more postive than negtive .. so i do my own account what better or worse from what i read on the internet ..

i'm not that ritch or bored to buy all the three or all the other players and make my own review, i turst your words and other folks here on head-fi and anythingbutipod .. cause i don't have other choice

also it's a risk i'm taking too .. i could buy the colorfly ck4and discover it **** .. cause there no negtive reviews So i can only conclude it's good .. that's the reason for the "name dropping"

if you realy hate those player why i didn't see a review on your site? you try them?
