The 2.5 mm Hifiman replacement cables do not work on the Teak, I have tried two and it seems that they are wired differently. They only aftermarket cables that are guaranteed to work with the Teaks are the Sennheiser HD700 cables like this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32966045047.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.1dab4c4dppClAe.They are like the some hifiman (2.5mm) but you have to watch out as some cables won't stay seated and won't lock in place, I ordered a cable that would fit the Hifiman's but did not fit the E-MU's.
So only one black ring connectors. 3.5mm Hifiman's are 2 black ring. I don't know the old 2.5mm ones. The 2.5 mm Hifiman replacement cables do not work on the Teak, I have tried two and it seems that they are wired differently. If you try a Hifiman cable, you will put yourself in the realm of possibilities, while the HD700 cable is a sure thing.I have Periapt, Venus Audio, and Dyson Audio cables and they work on the Teaks and my 400i and 560. The only problems with swapping cables that I've experienced is trying to use the HiFiMan stock cables with the Teaks. No idea why that would be.
the one I posted before is good too I believe, it was this one:The 2.5 mm Hifiman replacement cables do not work on the Teak, I have tried two and it seems that they are wired differently. I just wanted to share my TH-X00
Would you mind sharing what pads are you using? They don't look like the stock pads.I just wanted to share my TH-X00

2.5mm. It was done by peterek on Etsy but he has since disappeared unfortunately
ZMF Eikons with attenuation ring from stock pads
The E-MU Teak is a cleaner headphone throughout. Don't expect as much bass as the 99 Classics, because you won't be getting that. What you will hear on the Teak, though, is a clear, well-textured low-end response, with decent, but not tactile rumble. Transients are quicker on the Teak, with faster decay. You won't be getting that thick, mushy bass the 99 Classics is famous for. If you're a huge basshead, you might not enjoy the lows on the Teak.
Treble on the Teak is also more extended, with better-defined highs. You get greater sizzle on the E-MU; in comparison, the 99 Classics sounds darker and a lot more subdued in the higher registers. If you are used to the highs on the 99 Classics, you might find the ones on the Teak to be a little aggressive at first; however, if you allow your ears some time to adjust, such notions will be quickly expelled.
Overall, the Teak is the more defined headphone, with better clarity throughout. Depending on your aural preferences, you might find the Teak a more musical headphone, too. It's well worth the price premium over the 99 Classics, IMO.
Finally, on the topic of portability, the 99 Classics edges out the Teak.
Pad rolling done. ZMF Eikons in lambskin win for me. Tried a bunch of Dekoni ones - perf leather, leather, hybrid, perf leather TH-900 - as well as the stock pads. All good, but I REALLY like the comfort/sound combo of the ZMF pads. Gonna try adding the Dekoni attenuation rings to see what it does to the bass, which is kinda tamed - fully there, extremely clear, but tamer than it was with stocks.
Will be getting some Eikon pads, already have the attenuation rings used with Dekoni Perf Leather (not a huge fan)That is what I use, Eikon with Dekoni attenuation rings
