I tried 2.5.1 L2 from 2.5.1 L0 on my DX90MM1.
I have to admit that bass and lower midrange is slightly better on details and presence.
But now female vocals are less clear and have less extension. The soundstage seems not to be as airy.

But the main problem for me is when I listened on midgain on 2.5.1 L0 volume 200 for example,
on 2.5.1 L2 I have to set it on high gain and same volume 200 to have approximatively the sound I like...

Weird, I didn't expect that difference, I'll stick with 2.5.1 L0 for the moment, althrough I find the bass better on 2.5.1 L2, but not enough for me to change.
No problem for me, I can live with this.   It's personal preference.
I'm moving from 2.2.0L0 to 2.5.1L0, 2.5.1L2 and then 2.5.1L3(I prefer the original fonts) on my modded dx90, a/b ing with TK13 and Audiofly af140(both 1DD+2BA hybrid phones), here's my impressions:
1.On 2.2.0LO, I stuck with low gain most of the times, with 16/44.1 especially, it's just too bright beyond that for me, volume could never go beyond 185, the high was ear piercing on both phones!
For 24/192 files, volume would go a little louder, but still on low gain.
For dff/dsf, volume up to 202 or 205 Max, on low gain too.
2. Switching to 2.5.1L0 changed the sound sig; the highs tamed down a little on all file formats, more clarity, still on the bright side. Low gain still seemed to work best and sometimes mid.
3. Now I'm on 2.5.1L3, this time the sound sig changed drastically! A lot if bass, it's not muddy, but sounded like walled up, mid becomes less clear as some of you said, even on 16/44.1! Hi-res suffered most on this. It is somewhat "OK" with TK13, definitely not with af140, music becomes less fun...! All these on low gain.
Switching from low gain to mid and finally high, it's like magic! It really makes my af140 sings! Even on high gain, I can crank up the volume to 210--212 for dsd/dff, it's euphoric! Fantastic bass, mid not recessed, no piercing high. I find myself really engulfed by the music!
On 16/44.1, on high gain, volume up to 190-195 still no hiss, again the bass is tight, not bright till I hate!
I can feel the difference noticeably when playing Sade's vinyl ripped 24/192; it's totally engaging! I can really appreciate the af140 over the TK13!
I'm surprised how a different fw changes the sound so much!

after reading all the comments....i give it a try on 2.1.5 L4.....damn the bassy sounds are gone but with more dynamic range....this is a hard choice lol

Update1: After AB testing throughout the night....2.5.1 L2 will caused alot of details hidden and gone....i think due to the bass and reduced mids causing this......whereas 2.1.5 L4 is full of details and layer......all this listened through Beyer T51p and Shure se535....

The 2.5.1 L1 works for me, after going back to the lower ones, i miss the impact and the dark, hd650 type feel which i love, will stick with the new one. very rich and fluid. and then lets see, 2.1.0, the original 2.0.5 and this new ones are the one to go for

do you guys have a extended battery backplate for the dx90? where did you purchase it?

The large battery looks interesting - at least for my DX90 a fresh battery made a great difference.

Short stroy: I got my DX90 used with two batteries, the original one failed almost immediately and the second was only good for about 2h use. I always used the second one but was never too happy with the sound signature. It always felt as if some clipping was going on for higher volumes. It was not pronounced but something was amiss to my ears. A while I though this is the default signature of the DX90 and all the reviewers are either crazy, deaf or payed fanboys.

Well, things changed when I got a new S3 battery... finally the DX90 showed it true colors.

Now I measure the batteries internal resistance from time to time, its a good marker of battery health and power.

I was able, a long time ago, to get 2 new Samsung batteries that are made in Korea. I soldered them so they are in parallel and the run time and sound are excellent. Of course they work in either the DX50 or 90.

Is the USB DAC still not supported on 64 bit machines? Im trying to install it on my work pc but it keeps coming up as "no driver found"

download last version from iBasso site (v1.1). it works.

if you experience issues with drivers signature:
1- uninstall drivers
2- run command prompt as administrator and type and execute this commands, to disable drivers signature enforcement :
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
3- reboot (you'll see "Test mode" text in a corner, which indicates drivers signature enforcement is disabled).
4- install drivers.

if you want to restore enforcement, use these commands, and reboot:
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF
