How is it different though? I use a Win 8.1 x64 and with the current dx 50 drivers (and dx90), I find that they work as USB DACs fine?
Is it in terms of resolution, noise level, etc?

The drivers would not install. Caused a BSOD when I tried to force them to.

This news makes me happy for two reasons: (1) no matter how happy I am with the current firmware at any given time, I am always excited to check out a new version; and (2) as a 64-bit Windows 7 user I have to manually disable Driver Signature Enforcement every single time my computer reboots or my DAC drivers won't work. A legitimate fix for this would be really convenient.

^this, exactly this is why I cannot use the DX90 as a USB DAC, especially at work.

I just there is sound enhancement also.

Paul, are expecting the new firmware to be released this week or ?

I hope it does not have sound enhancements, because what is an enhancement to you may be worse for others and then everyone will complain that they like the old sound better, but the new one has gapless and then it will just be a complainfest and.....

I have no problem with the drivers with Windows 7 64 bits. Only got one BSD with the last drivers.

  Improvements with this firmware:

3. Support 32bit/384kHz music in truncation to 24bit/192kHz.
4. Allow to work as a USB-DAC for Mac and Linux computers.

Release will be within one week.

  Any support for Mac coming?

Hello, I just bought dx90 few days ago, apparently  my battery only reach 4 hours  (both samsung and default) , Is it normal ?

Yes, I think it is normal. I also changed the stock battery for a S3 one and it gives me 4-6 hrs playtime at the max...
A bit disappointing imo, but luckily it also charges very fast

My X5 has 8-10 hrs battery life (but takes much longer to charge) => DX90 is about 50% of that...

Volume level straight out of the DX90 depends on the iem I'm listening with => varies from 175 - 205 on HG

These days I use it a lot as a transport with my Hugo (which I bought 2 weeks ago). It works from coaxial out and then the volume seems to be always at the max. Strangely the battery seems to last longer that way, but I think that has to do with the fact that it entirely skips the dac/amp section of the DX90 that way...

When you use the DX90's touchscreen a lot (especially when it's put to bright) then it also eats more battery of course
