Me to Ibasso

"Hi

I am really enjoying my DX90. Thank you for creating a great sounding DAP. I have a MAC and am unable to switch back the firmware upgrade to 2.05, because It won't load the image file, unlike on the DX50 where it was always possible to switch firmwares.

Can you make it possible in the future on the DX90 to be able to switch FirmWares up or down simply by loading a different image."

Ibasso to me

"Hi,
thank you for your email.
I didnt test it with Mac. I am going to test it, and will fix this on the next update.

Sincerely
iBasso Audio"

Alright everyone,

I've been talking to Vinnie and here's the dealio. He's thinking it'll cost about $300, maybe a bit more. It's gonna cost a bit more than an iMod, apparently, because he reckons he'd have to drill the enclosure to mount the TRRS jack.

If that convinces anyone of the merits of the mod, please let me know and I'll add you to the list.

Yes, because the holes for the existing jacks are too small for a TRRS Jack anyway.

So is anyone else interested? Only three spots left before the research unit is sent out.

just real quick listen on an mp3 wasnt much difference...slow seemed a little more impact in bass and little wider....not much....havent tried hires files yet

You won't hear any difference with MP3s. The data on both ends of the spectrum and then some are lost with non-lossless compression files. You need to have at least a 16-bit/44.1 or higher lossless rips to see a difference. Even then, some files may only have subtle or no difference at all.

Ugh 356 pages... I just have a simple question and am in a bit of time crunch. Can I go PC->USB->DX90->Desktop AMP (single ended)? I'm interested in using the DX90 as a DAC with my desktop rig then having the versatility of using it OTG. I apologize if this is a redundant question!

This should definitely be possible, except for if you have a 64-bit windows 8/8.1 PC with only USB 3.0 ports. Then you're pretty much screwed. you can't use otg at the same time as DAC though. I don't think any player can do that.
