Guys, what level of gain and volume do you usually use when using the burn in cable? Is it ok if I use the dx90 non stop (im thinking of doing the burn in the whole day) thanks!

According to iBasso gain and volume does not matter with the burn in cable. Yes you can run it all day.

Gday all, just a quick question if I connect up to the mini coax output on the DX90 is this still using the internal dac ?

thanks..

No

I do not consider myself as a sony fanboy, yet every sony dap I've purchased to this day had been a keeper w/o exception. They are :
2005 - 2009 nw - 407 (stick walkman)
2010 - 2013 a845 (same sq with x1050) - still working at the hands of my little brother
2014 - f886 - 32gb.

Between those "Sony's" I used :
cowon iaudio 7 (mediocre sq - poor build),
trekstor vibez (decent sound - yet problematic microdrive - very bad usability),
fiio x3 (clean sound, good bass, linear 2D soundstage with rolled-off & laid-back treble, highly compressed dynamics)
ibasso dx50 (very good UI once you get used to, very good soundstaging, shallow bass, slightly metallic, sometimes harsh and slightly rolled-of treble, somewhat compressed dynamics)

and each sony had been a particular step up from its predecessors. In fact, despite it's a bit digital sounding, sony f886 is absolutely the finest sounding dap I've owned to this date. Keep in mind that I only use headphones, like Grado HF-1, Grado PS 500 and Audio Technica ESW-9, and in these cans, Sony F886 is nearly superior overall to the above all players I've mentioned above in terms of balance, clarity, detail, staging, dynamics and joy factor. Only I can compare Fiio X3's bass, Ibasso DX50's soundstaging and Sony A845's sharp dynamics to the one's of Sony F886. And despite its 32 gb (around 27 - 28gb usable) capacity, it's a real deal for $270.

Right now I am waiting for my Ibasso DX90 which I ordered from mp4nation like a few weeks ago. They shipped the dap in the next business day (disappointing me for good ehe : ) and it cost me $417 including Ibasso DX90 + Brainwavz gift iem + Free Airmail Delivery with a discount coupon that gets you a %5 discount from the total amount.
When DX90 arrives, I'll compare it to my beloved Sony F886, and decide which will stay and which will go.

For me who is coming from a F807 it has been an easy choice, the difference in audio processing is much better in all aspects with my IEMs, i think the difference can be easily heard in a blind test even with my old ears, I now use the Sony to do sport. Hope you will not disappointed with your new purchase and please take time to appreciate your new DX90 because it's worth it

Sonny f886 is basically a zx1 with 32gb.They fixed the small soundstage and non existent bass of previous model which i had and made the sound more airy and 3d keeping the fun factor.Obviously it's gonna sound better than x3 and dx50 if zx1 is anything to go by.However 32gb in 2014?Yeah...no way.As far as dx90 it's the exact opposite of the way you described dx50 but it is a neutral dap letting the recording and headphones sound the way they should with no added colouration.Waiting for comparisons when you get your dx90 :).

Hello. ....

too lazy to read all 400 pages, could you guys tell me if the dx90 has the same volume spike issues like dx50?

Thinking of upgrading from 50 to 90, since I really like the dx's ergonomics, and I can't afford an 901...

Thanks

Thanks! But it gets hot when I use in non stop (during charging), Im afraid that this might damage my dx90. What do you think?

I essentially ran mine non stop for the first 2-3 weeks I had it, listening a few hours each evening but otherwise on loop with the burn in cable.

No, I have not encountered any of the volume spike problems, but that's fixed on the DX50 as well now.

Only one bad on DX90 is, that here is Coax Out and not Coax In.
DX90 have very good DAC, so I have not any idea for what I use Coax Out.
By way of contrast Caox In is extremly usefull - CD/DVD/HDD players, TV, game sound cards (too with Dolby Headphones), high quality usb to spdif adapters and more, more, more other.
I want DX90 rev.2 with Coax In :D
