After problems ordering a ZX1 I have done a u-turn and decided to go for an X5 and a DX90. Similar money, wonder if I've done the right thing? Have some Westone W40s and lots of hi-res music awaiting!

Where is direct ordering from once announcement made?

I haven't listened to the ZX1 but did for the X5 and can tell you you're not going to regret it, now with a Sabre implementation, you'll be switching players and having fun doing it. Money well spent IMO, if you can afford it.

If their stock is low and they have reserved some for external suppliers, that might happen. The second round and the ones after should hopefully be better stocked.

Any news on whether DX90 supports ReplayGain?
 
I searched through the DX50 thread, and it doesn't so that doesn't sound promising. Although maybe you can install Rockbox on DX90 which does support ReplayGain tags.

It's pretty much a must for those like me who listen to music on shuffle, and don't like changing the volume manually after every song.

Rockbox for DX50 is working and stable. Not sure if it includes replay gain, but at least RB is an option.
