The hiss when nothing is playing is annoying.

Anyone know why the DX50 keeps asking to scan the SD card on start-up? Shouldn't it just automatically do this when it notices a change in SD contents?

It will rescan until everything has been scanned. If you don't set the Auto Power Off to the highest time (30min) it will shut off before scan is complete. After update or after adding new files, just keep turning on the screen every time it goes off until the update is complete. My full 64gb card takes about 8 minutes to fully scan after a firmware update. It then does not rescan until I either update firmware or remove and re-insert the SD card.

Turn the volume up and you'll hear it.

There are very few amps or DAPs that won't exhibit some hiss with sensitive phones with the volume set to very high levels.

In a real quiet room, I can detect a very tiny bit of consistent background noise even with other headphones. Undetectable in practical uses and situations.

Can't say the same for my reshelled DBA02 though. Hears the noise the moment the headphone jack is plugged in. Level 100 on high gain or 130 on low gain. Still obvious.

Thanks. That makes sense.

My dumb questions of the day due to no manual:

1) Red Triangle with !:  I have not heard anyone talk about this icon before that is coming up during my start up attempts. Is this a low power warning or an error warning icon? My DX50 is refusing to start even though my power bar was still showing half full. I am assuming it is a power warning because I have been running it for about 10 hours so my power bar may be displaying incorrectly.
2) Charge Time: How long does it take to charge the DX50 from zero to full?
3) Charging Indicator: How do you know if the DX50 is completely charged? Does something light up or does it display this in the start up screen? Do you have to keep checking or is there a progress indicator?
4) Charge Percentage: Most of my mobile electronics provide a percentage charge remaining which can sometimes be buried in system information if not in the display. Is there such a feature hidden in the system info or an option to turn it on for the screen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been wondering about that.  I have mine setup just like you mentioned and it does a short scan every time I turn it on.  It also rescans every time I select an album I haven't tried to play before.  This is what's been driving me crazy.  Mine spends more time scanning than it does playing music.

Yes, I've seen this icon once before when my battery was completely drained.  However unlike your situation, my power bar was completely empty.
