DX50 Bug List, Wish List Fix

Looks like we need to head over to iBasso then and tell them how we feel. This is disappointing to say the least. I was relying on that update to cure the reverse channel issue at least.

It is more likely beta firmware, sent out early to customers who is having trouble, with more trouble I guess. The firmware is not listed in homepage. I did not receive any mail to update as well.

That's it - I'm keeping the old firmware.

Maybe I should have waited for those new Hifiman DAPs....

Can anybody who has installed the new firmware confirm whether the issues with the apostrophe are now resolved?

If not I'm sticking for the moment

Just finished updating. I can play more files nows and the volume is definitely louder. I used to listen @ 220 for a comfortable level. Now 200 is the comfortable level.

When will iBasso understand Album/Artists/Genres/Playlists???? My DX50 arrived yesterday and like everyone else have had issues with my tags and so on. I've just updated it to v.1.1.5 and sure some of these early bugs are fixed but other remain. I have a few comments and questions.

1. Why don't the media scans completely scan both Internal memory and the SD Card?
2. This results in many Albums missing from the list.
3. Any Album with multiple artists seems to have an Album for each artist... so long as the number of artists is low. It seems beyond comprehension why you would list Albums by Artists instead of ALBUM ARTIST.

I have spent countless hours ensuring my album art and tags are neat and clean. All my albums work and display just fine in my DX100, RWAK100, Sony Walkman Z and Xperia Z, iPad, iTunes and so on. I forgive iBasso for getting a few teething issues like the Apostrophe and so on. But I wonder if these guys actually listen to music in the same way most of us do. I think my albums are files and sorted like the default systems for iTunes and MediaMonkey and so on. EG. //Drive/Music/Artist/Album/Filename. It's not complex.

And of course we will be waiting a month for the playlist feature but don't hold your breath expecting that to be right either. iBasso have mucked around so many times with the DX100 playlists. Like  at one stage the filenames played in the reverse order of tracks for each album. It would start playing with the last track added. Even now with the Firmware 1.4.2, you must add your albums in the reverse order you want them to play. So if your adding a double DC to a single playlist you add CD2 first, then CD1....What????

Now, sure every device I own has a few idiosyncrasies, but iBasso make wonderful sounding devices of beautiful quality and feel, but man they are frustrating to use. Looks like I'll just have to be happy that the folders can be accessed and played completely now the Apostrophe is fixed. But I can see I am going to be playing my RWAK100 far more than I expected....

End of rant....

@ Jpfe, you can thank Rock Chip for that. That is why I've been vocal about them. Their support is crap and their proprietary nature is unacceptable. It's basically what hinders this product from being what it should be. Same goes for the DX100.

  1. 24/192 plays like 45rpm set to 33rpm with a lot of noise...so basically crippled...
  2. coax out is not included in the release note
  3. single quote does not work for me still...

CHG... I know someone else asked this but DID you reset the DX after installing as per the readme? I ask because...

1. I had the highspeed replay once yesterday but after playing a standard mp3 file the HD Flac played properly.
2. My single quote (files with apostrophes) play fine now and in sequence (so long as I play from folders not albums)

Did you check the System Info in the Advanced setting to check your update completed successfully?

Lucky I picked up a HDP-R10 where there are no issues with that. Hibino are pretty good with those things.

John, Thanks for the tip.. However, I have to say "yes" to both of your questions.... just not doing it for me now....
1. 24/192 is not working.... so I cannot check if any SS change... but gut feeling tells me there is some tuning to the sound or maybe just louder....
2. single quote is also not playing.....both from file browser and library... at least it does not reset vol to 120 now... or mess up channel and stuff
