DX50 Bug List, Wish List Fix

If I was a little harsh this morning, I apologize.

I'm doing a fair bit of traveling at the moment, and I had a 2-hour wait in an airport lounge early this morning. I had been looking forward to listening to Bruckner's 5th (Knappertsbusch/VPO), but ended up spending the time trying to get the DX50 to work. In the end, I got to hear half of the first movement (which sounded amazing) before it decided to go on strike...

While I do feel you came across very negatively I don't think you owe anyone an apology. This is an open forum afterall and it is to every user's benefit to point out issues so the company/maker/producer has some urgency to fix these issue.

Personally I am not upset with the issue largely because of my experience with competing products that cost WAY MORE and gave me similar or worse headache upon their launches. AK100, AK120, HM901, or iBasso's own DX100 all cost way more and had same or more issues at launch/till now.

By pricing it at USD239 I think they deserve a lot of patience and respect. Comparing it to say the AK100, with similar built, aesthetics, and arguably much better sound, iBasso could have priced it at $480 and gave a 50% off $239 special Intro-price for "beta tester" and I suspect MANY MANY Headfiers would be VERY happy to sign up. To make it more appealing they should say this is a 'Limited" open beta and only "selected" people would be alotted a unit at this early bird special price. (think google glass)

Perception/Marketing (or the lack of) is really powerful, people are now NOT happy with the same unit at the same extremely reasonable price at 239.

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of trouble adding music directly to my DX50. For some reason my computer won't recognize it. Anyone else with this problem?

Edit: Ok so as it turns out I just need to add some music to the card itself and then my computer started to recognize it and the SD card separately. Don't know if that means anything :/

Anyway great player!

So when will the updated firmware be released?

Will also like to add that the player is susceptible to RF interference. Will be good if iBasso can look into this for future batches. People who tend to carry their phones or transmitting devices close their players will experience this.

RF never cased my DX50 to skip other than producing static noise.

One the bug list front, I would like to add if the audible pop can be eliminated when the device is starting will be welcomed much, but I understand the amp is kind of powerful so it just the side effect. It is starting to bug me, since there are occasional restarts due to various reasons and not every time I want to remove the earphone before the restart.

You think it's bad you haven't heard the DX100 pop lol.

And here is iBasso's reply regarding RF:

"Hi,
ALL opamps based AMP has the RF interference problem.  It cant be eliminated except use some headphone IC instead of the OPAMPs. However, headphone ICs offer horrible sound quality.

Sincerely"

Guess there's nothing we can do about it then...

They thing is ibasso actually significantly reduced that pop on a particular firmware for the DX100 and when powering it off completely got rid of the pop (well where it was very very small). They obviously did this on accident because they didn't replicate it on the newer firmwares I tried while I still had the unit. Let's just say it was so bad that I would always unplug my IEMs before powering off and power the unit on before plugging in. After having a "scared the **** out of me" moment I was quite good at remembering to do so lol.
