the Wolfson 5110 solution seems dedicated for smartphones so we probably can give it a pass.

is it me or does it seems like the excitement over the DX50 took a dip since the DAC was confirmed to be Wolfson 8740 instead of a Sabre?

Thanks, smallcaps. :)

Thought i was misreading it.

Noticed something interesting.

DX50  = 64 x 100 x 16.9 mm

ALO rxMK-3B = 60.5 x 100.75 x 8.0 mm

Wonder how this combination will sound like.

I prefer a Wolfson over the Sabre.

Nobody seems to know what the ALO rxMK etc output impedance is though, could be a random lucky shot in the dark, or a painful one in the foot.

The DX50 has a great OI.

I own that amp. Trust me when I say it's a great sounding amp especially when paired with a CLAS in balanced mode

Silly reason. People and their 'parts'.

Not much more to post about considering there's no new info. I'm guessing Soren is probably disappointed his wish of the same DAC as the DX100 won't be coming true.

I am confused about DX50's claim of "2TB" microSDXC support. Does DX50 support native microSDXC (meaning it supports exFAT), or does it have to use fat32-formatted microSDXC?

2TB is just the theoretical storage limit of SDXC, assuming that hardware is compatible. Current gen 128GB (and maybe 256GB) SDXC can be formatted to fat32 and used in any current portable device with SD card slot. But there is no guarantee that future SDXC cards will have the same hardware; any change in pin setting or power consumption can easily render current SD slots unusable.

Dumping the Sabre dac in favor of the Wolfson is a great choice for both price, portability and battery life. If they make it sound as good as my DX100, I really don't care what the DAC chip is called. And "disappointed" is a strong word for it I'd say...

Yet another win for the DX50!

Holy HELL I am so tempted to get one and they haven't even told us the price yet. Looking very much forward to reviews...
