I've not been able to get my clip zip to work with the 64 gd card from Sandisk. Also don't really care to rockbox on a non stable build of that software.

Thanks though...

Rockboxed my Clip Zip since I bought it a year ago, and no problems. Only sweetness.

That's great. Still not risking bricking my device on unstable firmware. I know it's not expensive but still ...it's all I've got ATM.

Same here - no problem with my sandisk 64G microSD card working in my rockboxed clip zip. I also have a 32G Sandisk card and a 32G Lexmark card, and the Lexmark card causes my zip to hang. I've actually formatted both cards and copied the exact same stuff to both of them, and the damned Lexmark causes hanging. No problem though I if I stick with either of the Sandisk cards (and use the Lexmark in other devices where it works fine).

As Jamato says below, this isn't the place for anyone to go much further than saying "Your experience isn't what other people's experience of the Clip Zip with Rockbox is." Do a search of the site for more.

That said, I await impressions for the DX50 to see if it'll fit what I want out of a DAP.

Come onnn. this is a DX50 thread. Actually I have never used a clip. Don't know anything bout them. Looks like fun, good for when you get out and want something light for on the goooo.

Tomorrow, the 26th and then a couple of days after that for the DX50 to start hitting the doorsteps of the eager. I look very much to impressions. Remember any unit needs a little burn in time.

Also, you need a charger, USB type, as the DX50 does not come with a charger.

Can't get the 64 gb card to work in the clip. Formatted to fat32, still nothing. If anyone has suggestion please pm me so as to not derail this thread.

Lexmark? Perhaps you mean Lexar? I don't believe Lexmark manufactures memory cards.

already paid for 1 unit, but any idea if it might support these features?

- crossfading tracks
- auto bookmarking like Clip Zip
- internal id3 tag databasing like Clip Zip

hope so!

Let me see if I have this straight. to mate a small mobile HDD to my DX 50 I would need a Micro USB B/Male to USB2.0 A/Female OTG Cable, specifically the cable pictured below. Correct?

Since we're talking small portable HDD's anyone got any recommendations on anything around the size of 256 to 500 GB's in size? I would want something built in such a way so it's shock proof and as tiny as possible. THIS looks rather promising but I'm worried it might be a little to big and defeat the purpose of being mobile. My kingdom for an affordable 256GB USB stick.
