Oh yeah!!!! I just bought it since you brought it to my attentions!!! An amazing album!!!

They have multiple albums that are probably just as good, too!

I know this is unreasonable, but I love the sound of the DC-Elite. Can anyone compare with the DX340 without laughing.
I don't think anybody here would laugh at that, not anyone who has heard the Elite. The 340 (which I have not yet had the pleasure of hearing) may be an order of magnitude above the Elite but there's no doubt that the Elite is orders of magnitude above pretty much every mid tier dap and several flagships. I had never had any iBasso device before but the absolute hype and almost universal praise for the Elite caused me to pick one up. When I first heard it I was floored; I couldn't believe what I was hearing for the first time with tracks I was intimately familiar with. In 30 years I never really understood what "reference" meant until I heard music coming through that little box. The preision of it - the absolutely cleanliness of the sound, the incisiveness, detail, spaciousness, clarity, resolution, depth, width - I could just go on..... I finally understood what "warm and warmish" devices were doing to the transducers. Now I understood that reference isn't boring, if I want emotional warmth, grab a warm iem and let pure music flow into it.

Once I took a bite of the iBasso Apple, I was hooked. I couldn't listen to my Shanlings, my Lotoo, or 1AM2 anymore. I was real close to getting the 320 Max but the need for 2 different chargers held me back. That's just not practical or functional for my lifestyle and travel. So I picked up the 320 and truly, I found it far superior to all my other DAPs but still sitting behind what I was experiencing from the Elite. "What kind of wizardry is this? " I thought. How that a little Dongle can sound this good and Trump all these $1K to $2K devices? Then I started reading how the 340 and Elite share the same musical signatures. By and large that was confirmed here over and over and also by Bloom when I wrote to them for advice and input. I love the 320 and had I never heard the Elite, I'd probably just have stuck with it... But now I'm reading that the 320 is a toy compared to the 340 and that the 340 towers over the Elite. The thought of that is mind blowing to me and I cant wait to experience it myself.

All that to say @ogre59, there is no shame in being enamored with the Elite - its exceptional; just a little impractical for me for on the go portable use, especially if you saw the pics of my elite sandwich stack a few pages back. If I can get all of that and more in one compact, albeit heavy unit, .... I'm ecstatic.

I also hear no differences. I still find the mid bass punch to be quite light pre and post firmware upgrade. It still sounds great, but no different to me. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I wish it did sound different, I am still struggling to fully enjoy the bass presentation on it which is why I have posted it for sale. I will likely revisit it later when there are more amp cards to choose from.

Ultimately it could just be bad synergy with AMP15.

My Campfire Audio Astroliths seem have no issues with bass presence.
I like the way my DX340 sounds right now especially with Super Gain but I'm very excited for AMP17 and AMP18, they may be more powerful than AMP15 and not to mention the addition of 12V Super Gain!

Bass is fantastic. I am buying his 340. Just needs to be optimized and rooted. I can return mine to Bloom and come out ahead worst case. But would not mind a spare of this prize worthy DAP.

Yeah synergy is key of course. Astrolith are also bass monsters so that probably helps haha. :)

It is based on 320Max not 340/D16. You will love the 340 even more.

Agreed.

I'm not actually much of a basshead although I do enjoy my EDM and electronic music in my library, I've balanced out the Astrolith's overall tonality but using the Divinus Velvet Wide Bore tips, this gives a huge soundstage boost, tames the bass and mid-bass a little bit while allowing for more air for vocals and highs. Plenty of seperation and layering. This is probably the overall best presentation on the Astroliths so far until I receive my Pentaconn Coreir tips which should improve the vocals and extend the treble response even more. It's insane how much difference eartips can make to an IEM of this caliber.

I've noticed that the DX340 tends to stutter when playing DSD512 natively on all music player apps I have (UAPP, Neutron, Mango Player App), is this happeneing to anyone else?

Hopefully this can be alleviated by a future firmware update, it's such a shame because DSD512 sounds so dang good on the DX340.

What about the IFI ipower x 12v PSU? Did anyone try it? Would it be a big difference with a LPSU from it?
I have used an iFi iPower X with the DX340. Certainly better than stock one. Works perfectly fine, no noise whatsoever. Don't know whether a lpsu would sound better...my spare one still does not want to be found.

I listen to live music in different forms. Also I have been into audio for many years. I would not want any great bass presence. If more it would be too much. This is on different IEMs and headphones.

Often amplified live music way overemphasizes the bass. People get used to this but it is unnatural and ruins it for me. Some of the recordings I have are too much bass, because that apparently is what the person doing the mastering thought was good, but boom, boom, boom may as well be all you hear.

I am finding that the 340 breathes life into so much music I have creating the event be it in a recording studio or live, which is a real treat.

Did you buy brass or AL?

Same here, don't hear much of a difference. I anything at all, sounds slightly more organic/musical now. Just a wild guess, if something changed it might be related to the filters, as H1 (Original) sounds pretty much the same to me, but the others seems slightly different (or just my imagination).

Btw I did not have a PD charger issue as reported by some, but a QC problem instead. Firmware update solved it.
