Looking by the size of it and the 4.4mm connector, seems they built a tank of an amp into it. I guess it's the answer to the Kann Cube.

... yep, just to sell it 2 months later for the following DX220max Ti or special platinum edition ? Man we are all like hamsters in a hamster wheel.
I've just bought the 220 and now this ! Not funny anymore. For the next months i'm out for sure (just relating to ibasso's stuff) as i feel like a ball kicked around now... always on the hunt for the newest gadget, while all the little Amps are piling up on my desk

I think there should be a time gap between product releases of this kind. Too often there is new stuff out (like a modified amp or a special, limited Ti-edition, Amp mk2... etc.) released with just minor improvements (or even none). Just my 2 cents. It's kind of annoying to see a "max"-version of the 220 just a few weeks after purchasing the 220. Honestly. And it's not even available for us here in Europe.

On my desk is an Amp3, 4s, 1 mk2 and 8 lying around. I just use the awsome Amp9 and maybe the 8 sometimes... the rest is useless for me. Too much stuff for 1 single DAP. Too much useless stuff within a short period of time. And every Amp is around 230 €.
The DX220 is great value for money for sure but after 4 more amps and always using the newest one then it's as pricey as a A&K 1000m f.e. And no one is interested in an Amp3 or 4s and very soon in the 8 as well when new stuff is out.
This particular ibasso game isn't mine anymore.

I have the same setup but on high gain - no hiss. Have Solaris 2.5mm balanced going to 3.5mm adapter (PW Audio) into DX229. No hiss.

Really? Might also be a hearing range thing (older vs younger ears and loss of high frequency perception) - both the Andro and Atlas hiss a bit with Amp9. But not so much as to interfere with enjoyment of the music. The Amp1mkII is much quieter. This is all SE output btw.

Yup! That is all about this expensive hobby. I had DX200 about a month or 2 month then sold it for DX200TI then DX220 now. Would try modifying DX200TI to EX level! It seems like an addiction. Could I live without them? Sure but not fun anymore...

I know this game and i love it. Take a look at my sig. But for a DAP of this kind particularly and just minor differences and changes this isn't worth all the fuss. Imo.

Interesting for sure. But looks like a very different kind of product. The DX220 is about the upper end of what I want to use portably...

Just trying to gauge listening levels. Folks with Amp9 and IT04, what’s your usual volume level (at high gain preferably)?

Just pick up Amp9 today and my volume on high gain with IT04 is about 115/150. And hot swapping amp9 also boost the output power just like @bsphong said previously. Maybe it can be fixed by software in the future

And can anyone explain exactly what hot swapping the amp module is doing to it internally to exponentially boost it's output? It seems sensible to me that it aint good.
