Yes, they are my favorite IEMS ever. Absolutely love them.

@jamato8 I have both, dx200 and 1z. I think they are different sounding players. I enjoy them both, but the 1z is definitely a little warmer, has a bit more bass presence. I never hear it sounding digital at all. The DX200 sounds like it has more air, but it could be due to the warmth. I definitely prefer the 1z, but with that being said, I'd never rec the 1z over the DX200. Primarily due to the obscene price. If money doesn't matter, and you prefer a warmer signature, then the 1z would be a good choice. It's definitely not worth 2k more. I need more time to do some head to head comps now that they are both fully burnt in. I'll post more when I can. UI, the DX200 is snappier. The 1z does have some lag, not bothersome, but noticeable (as I'm sure you are aware). I can't offer more of an opinion at this time.

I own both and the WM1Z has a slightly warmer tonality than the DX200. When you compare carefully side by side, the differences are not as huge as what my brain would like me to think. The WM1Z has less air between instruments as they sound overall smoother and thicker. There is absolutely no digital grain in my opinion on the WM1Z. Where the WM1Z has the edge, to my tastes, over the DX200, and almost every other DAP, is the layering depth wise. It makes the music incredibly fleshed out. This is all balanced but I only use iems.

How many hours on the DX200 and 1Z? I assume this is in balanced mode? And, thank you for your input.

For me all balanced and the WM1Z is way past 200 hours (stopped counting a month ago). THe DX200 is past 100 hours.

Curious question: why your dx200 just pass 100 hr. You are the first person to have it.

@Warrior and @Mim, I agree with your characterisation on the 1Z, but I prefer to use the term lush over warm.

  Because I have 5 DAPs :D

You could use the burn-in cable for the DX200. :^) I have noticed a lot of change after a few hundred hours. I have over 400 hours on my DX200 now. From the way you describe the 1Z, I may pick it up also. I can only imagine how heavy it must feel.

Yeah, but I guessed I would do the further burn in myself, no hurry. The W1Z is really special but I recommend trying before buying. On the other hand if you can get the amazon deal (heard they sold it around 2.3k on amazon.co.uk) then it is great. The build quality and feel of the player is awesome. But it IS heavy. The LPG, which is already heavy, seems a feather in comparison.

  1. iBasso DX200 : 240g
  2. Lotoo Paw Gold: 280g
  3. The earth : 5,972 × 10^24 kg
  4. WM1Z: 455g

Gahhhhh.  The 1Z is almost as heavy as the entire earth! Oh, wait, the zeros and a few numbers are different. What's in a number anyway.

To be honest, the TOTL DAPs are quite close in terms of performance to me, so it comes to the synergy with your stuff and how you like the objects.

Running Temperature  Snippet.

Apart from this when the unit is running (especially with hi-res and at higher volumes) the heat produced is nothing to worry about. Unless of course, there is some obvious fire or smoke pouring out.

Definitely agree trying before buying. The wm1z is not for everyone to like. As a reference listener the wm1z/a are just not for me. They lack the TOTL analytical ability and soundstage and separation. On the other hand, DX200 is really on point on that. When there are many instruments playing in the soundtrack, I can easily search for each individual instrument with dx200, but not with wm1z/a. However, wm1z/a are hands down the best choice for warm and bassy sounding DAPs.
