I don't think AMP8 is anywhere near burnt-in at 24h, if you've had ZX2, WM1A or Z you know those capacitors need quite some burn-in time and changes are going to be significant along the way...

Anyway, AMP4 has been my favorite since it was out, followed closely by AMP5 which is warmer but also very dynamic. To me AMP4 is musical with a neutral, lean and clean take. Yes, it's very coherent. But even not burnt in I would not describe AMP8 as clinical although it's true it has more precise imaging other than that I would describe it in terms of tuning as somewhere in between AMP4 and AMP5 (and probably not too far from AMP4S from what I have read). That means musical and organic despite being a great technical performer but I am listening with the Phantom and VE8...

I wonder which IEM or headphone you're running AMP8 with?

I am using Rhapsodio Galaxy v2 as my IEM. One thing I also felt is that the AMP8 has better control on the bass probably due to the higher damping factor. Wish I can accelerate the burn-in process though!!

Ok got it, I can see how synergy might be different with the Galaxy v2 then AMP5 (or AMP7 ?) would fit better

I'm on the iBasso site now. It indicates that there is a 14 day money back policy. Does anyone know if installing Lurker's firmware will void the possibility of return?
The 14 day period starts at time of delivery to the time of shipment back to us. Lurker's FW is not a problem. He does fine work.

Your pornography is here!!!!
I just realized that that the Amp8 has so many Juicy capacitors. Look at those Audio Grade Capacitors....it probably will take 300+ hours to burn in

Violation of purchase agreement. 24 hours before your AMP8 stops working. lol

The orange cap is a Siemens cap. The Japanese cap is expensive and not often seen in commercial products. The grey are Panasonic. You are correct that they will take some time to form. Enjoy the Music!

I was off on the orange cap. Siemens is a much better cap than the one I linked to. Very similar packaging....

Amp 8 with IT04 is quite the match even at this early stage.

so many positive impressions on amp 8, can’t wait to see more comparisons versus amp 4
I will say that it needs burn in but out of the box AMP8 is great. I have hear changes and it only gets better. The bass is astounding. Soundstage is wide and deep but coherent. I keep listening because this is so much fun but keep looking around for my wife because there are things she wants me to do and I told her I had to do some work on the computer and I don't want her to catch me just looking straight ahead with a joyful look on my face. lol

I've been A/Bing AMP4 and AMP8 with my Legend X and right now I'm sticking with AMP4. Still need many more hours of testing though as I'm sure AMP8 needs more burn-in. I prefer the extra treble extension on the 4 since my Legends and Thor II 8 wire smooth it out so the extra treble smoothness the 8 offers isn't needed. The 4 is feeling more energetic and musical but that could be brain burn-in for the time being since it's been my daily driver. I'll spend more time with the 8 this weekend, it does offer tighter bass and I hear better layering in the vocals, but personally I gravitate toward drum sounds and instrumentation since I'm a musician and the 4 is more pleasing to my ears. Also, the extra juice the 8 puts out drains the battery faster and I noticed the battery dropping while plugged in via USB which I don't notice with the 4. Since the Legends don't need the extra juice I'm sure full sized headphones will benefit more from the 8.
