It's hard to beat the value of the DX200 in this hobby right now. The base sound is great, the addition of AMP modules make it more customizable and unique, and the fact that @Lurker0 does an awesome job on his firmware is icing on the cake. Having had the AMP4 since it came out, it's my preferred module...but I can't wait to get my 4s (and the DX150 for that matter!) I think the 4s will have it's own unique sound, but some of the boys here will be posting their thoughts on the sound soon enough.

Yes, will be using @Lurker0 firmware and will have to thank him when I do!

Apologies, joking aside, I don't want to leave your questions unaddressed, especially with you being (relatively?) new to Head-Fi
In order to help you better, it would be helpful if you could tell us what you liked and disliked about each of those AMP units?
Also, do you plan to mostly use the AMP single-ended, or with a balanced cable? (can explain these terms if you don't know them, but I'm assuming you do!).

I didn't bother with addressing what I liked about the AMP modules because all reviews and comments I read basically said the same thing. So i just assumed you knew what I meant, my bad. What I liked about the AMP1 its neutral, clean, tight bass, and the sound stage seemed wider than AMP3. I also felt the vocals were more forward. It seems each AMP is unique based on the reviews and comments so perhaps I wont necesarily find an upgrade but something similar. Would you say AMP4 would be the closest match to AMP1 characteristics?

That is correct. It can not drive 800s that well in comparison to Wm1Z.

I thought Wm1Z has way less power compared to AMP4. It doesn't drive well or you don't like the signature?

Oh, how about HD650s?
I am thinking of getting DX200 with AMP4 or AMP5 just because of the power it offers.
Now I have big question on my mind if I still have to carry an AMP to power my HD650s.

I can report without a doubt the HD650’s, the entire LCD series, the entire ZMF series, and my Grado’s all sound fantastic on the DX200. I heard the HD800’s a few times on AMP4 And never really had that much of a problem with it on high gain but they’re not something I listen to all the time.
