I have spent 2 hours using HD800 driven by DX200 last night before going to bed. IMO, DX200 drives it at the same level as desktop amps (think Benchmark DAC2). The DX200 still gives the HD800 the same imaging and 3D soundstage. It also gives the HD800 the weigh in bass that usually is lacking when driven by other amps. I also did a quick comparison with LPG, DX200 is more capable in terms of drive power. This is obvious when listening to tracks by Daft Punk or ACDC which can push an amp to it's limit.

Come on, the DX200 did not drive my P7 to its potential.

Not really sure if you are being serious or just pulling his leg

I mean, you can't be serious when I have P7 in front of me, driven by DX200 in low gain (volume 88/150) which makes bass scream and performs on the same level as LPG in low gain (volume 75/85) or Opus#2 in mid gain (volume 103/150).

How many burn in hours do you have on your dx200 and are you running the latest fw (and factory reset after the fw upgrade)?

Guess we listen at different levels. So you agree that the stock amp in the DX200 performs at the level of a good desi amp and that internal anp and dacs sounds better than the Hugo?

I don't have a P7 nor heard it before so I have no idea what potential are you talking about.
The P7 is not difficult to drive but it will reach its full potential with a good amp.

Your LPG goes up to 85 in volume? Mine only has 75 max.

Uh, forgot that you are basshead

What level are you listening to?  P7 has 22 ohm load, so in theory DX200 output will give you 409 mW of power (single ended) and 1.6W (balanced), based off corresponding 3Vrms and 6Vrms output voltage.

Don't have any desktop dac/amps, except Micro iDSD.  Sorry, can't compare to Hugo.  What's Hugo output power rating?

Mine is special....  No wait, I'm special lol!!!  Wrote down it was 10 clicks below max volume and max volume is 75.  Used fuzzy logic to come up with 75/85

Yes, in reality it's 65/75, just fixed my math

I see, there was just talk about certain version which has more than 75 max volume. Not sure if it's a FW update. Anyway, LPG is fine with most song and like you 65 at high gain for most of the time sounds enough to drive the HD800. However, some tracks I have like like Daft Punk and AC_DC requires more volume than usual. LPG just maxes out but I think it's still a click or 2 below than my normal listening volume. But with DX200 140 is already too much. With a little spare/headroom.

Im not focused on numbers so you win. I demoed the DX200 four times in a closed room alone. Went to the shop with cash to buy. The P7 sounded much better on other daps and much better with a dap that had an amp connected to it. An issue I have is if anyone has a complaint about the dx200 on this thread then they are jumped and told they are wrong. On the other hand if one post that the dx200 sounds better than a $2000 amp/dac or better than another $2000 plus dap then thats silently agreed and applauded. If the dx200 sounded as good as I wanted (expected) I would have bought it. It didnt but I do believe one day it can. It can with a better amp and improved FW.

well u like the x5iii which I think is inferior to the dx200

Well I can say the DX200 drives the Focal Utopia to a very good point, very musical, well controlled and deep bass etc etc. Now I can compare this with the line out of the DX200 or the Hugo with the mZ2 amp that has 6SN7W and 7062 tubes and is the finest headphone amp I have heard. I also use the Mojo Audio Illuminati power supply that delivers everything the mZ2 amp could ever want for clean, clean power. Together with the upgrades of pure silver internal wiring, Goldpoint attenuator and a hyper pure silver,  (99.99995) IC, it is surprising how well the DX200 holds up against this +$4000 desktop amp. Is it the same, no, is it better, no it is not quite as good as my desktop system but it sill performs like a very high quality desktop system.

Throwing out $$$$ doesnt mean mych especially after you state a <$900 dap can compete.
