DUNU DN-2000J -- More Than Evolution?

I just realized that the bass ring is designed to block the pressure excursion port built into the front side of the DN-2000J, like that of the AKG3003.

As mentioned by Rin Choi in his analysis of the K3003, he blocked the port and there was about 6 dB increase in bass at 20 Hz. I foresee a similar effect with the DN-2000J's bass ring.

Personally, I prefer dynamic drivers that have adequate venting. They tend to sound more natural when they can breathe freely. So I can't imagine I'll like the effect of the bass ring, but we'll see.

I'd guess that the ring covers some kind of pressure equalization vent, probably similar to that on the K3003. Would explain both the deep bass lift and increased flex.

I think I should :relieved:...but then vsonic is coming out with the gr07ext edition  and also wanting the asg1plus:laughing:

gr07ext? I never heard of that before. Any links?

If the DN2000 can really perform near K3003 level, I will be sure to get it. I really liked the DN1000/2000, but both had fit issues for me. I hope the DN2000j will turn out to be better in that regard.

Just got word from DUNU that the Chinese reviews (or perhaps they should be called 'previews') were all made with pre-production versions of the DN-2000J (the one they piloted for production right before CNY). Their official word is that they want to make it even better, so they've gone back to the drawing board for more revisions, with a "done when it's done" mentality.

Honestly, I think this is a good sign. It means they're really taking this product seriously, and it has potential to become a real classic (if they play their cards the right way).

But despite my superlative first post, I think people really need to temper their expectations until the final version is released. Then, we can open the floodgates.

So the wait is gonna be over soon........hmm, hi-res audio huh.

I thought he said the opposite - meaning now there is no impending release date as they have gone a few steps back. I was going to say back to the drawing board, but it is pretty obvious that isn't the case - I commend them for deciding on getting it right. Look what happened to the latest TTPOD T2 (?) My opinion is that they rushed it - they had everything, decent ergonomics, pretty shell and cable - great packaging - the materials were nice - and the drivers were of a decent quality - but perhaps more time should have been spent on tuning it - for that is probably the only issue - the sound. And since it is a headphone, that is pretty important. Good for DUNU - they aren't in it for a quick buck - they seem interested in the long term...
