DUNU DM-480, DM-380 impressions thread

@DUNU-Topsound do you have any diagrams showing how the drivers are situated in the DM-480? I was curious about what isobaric configurations were, and discovered there are quite a few different ways to build them (e.g. piggy-back, back-to-back, planar, etc configurations).

Are the two drivers identical? Are they being fed the same signal, or is there a crossover in the 480?

This is what we have on file. The two drivers are the ones with the copper colored voice coils. They are identical drivers and there is no crossover. They are designed to work in concert with each other.

Interesting - thank you! The way they work in tandem is quite good. The more I listen to the 480, the more I like it. Even though only 8mm, they sound much bigger and more expansive.

Received my DM-480 this evening. I’ve got a headcold so will reserve judgement but initial impressions are positive. Went straight to a copper cable (KBEAR 16 core pure) and driven by FiiO BTR3K (3.5mm).

Subbass is definitely clear, detailed and punchy; well suited to rap/hiphop genre.

*EDIT* I've applied EQ settings per darmanastartes's review; I found this addressed my initial misgivings about vocals.

Can anyone recommend a brand/model of foam tips for the DM-480? I've used Comply in the past but they don't have the DM-480 listed on their compatibility chart.

edit:
Or tell me the nozzle size?

The nozzle size is 5.2 mm, so Comply's 500 series foams should work with no problem.

If anyone has both the mee pinnacle PX or P1 and the Dunu DM480, could you compare the level of isolation between them?

Hi, the DM-480 is definitely more isolating.

Having spent some time with the DM-480 over the past month or so,these are very good at the price point. Although the shell shape is becoming more and more present (semi/custom look), the isolation is some of the best I've come across due to no venting (and I did not experience any driver flex as a result). Having not changed a thing (stock cable and tips) and using an ES100 and BTR3K as a sound (both without EQ), the sound is very much to my liking and non-fatiguing. Bass is certainly present, but it does not overpower the mids and treble. Despite my Auglamour T100 having the DUNU shroud, they sound nothing alike. The T100 sounded thin and lacking in bass, like a very generic $5 gas station headphone. I honestly can't think of too much, as least for my listening preferences, that the DM-480 does wrong.

Thanks to the previous posters for the replies with isolation comparisons. I'm also considering Thieaudio Legacy 3 and Ibasso IT00, so if anyone has both the DM-480 and one of those, could you compare their level of isolation?

@DUNU-Topsound
My Dm-480 arrived from Aliexpress but there is something wrong with the sound. The lower bass is totally missing, with a quick test on audiocheck I can't hear anything until after 60hz, compared to 20 or 30hz for other earphones. Midbass also seems very recessed. There is a very strong vacuum effect when wearing the earphones that I suspected might be related, but there is no improvement in the sound even when using foam tips.
