Listening to these with AzlaSedna tips like Dsnuts recommended. These things make albums with bad production sound better, and albums with good production are like they're filtered through crystal.

Well worth the wait!
IMG_20200318_123728-01.jpeg

Very impressed with presentation, accessories - especially the cable, which looks like a glittering steel hawser but is gossamer light, build quality, comfort (as in, you can almost forget you're wearing them comfort) and sound, which is euphorically clear and airy, not to mention holographic.

I have swapped tips to Azla Earfits, just to get a little more treble extension from the wider bore and get the kick slam exactly right, but that's just down to preference - and having older ears, I suspect. Stock tips are as good, quality wise, and will give you a decent variety of tunings without ever needing to go aftermarket (I thought the stock clears were great).

Overall, I found these exceptional with vocals, like others have noted, particularly upper mid focussed ones, sparkly bright without any stridency or shrillness and downright fantastic in the bass department in terms of air movement, texture and dynamics (and Dunu have done very well matching note texture across the drivers). They're also really easy to drive, as far as I can tell.

Nice work Dunu, these more than met my expectations :)

How does the bass compare to the LZ A6 mini?

How does the bass compare to the LZ A6 mini?
I’m not a big fan of the minis, but for what it’s worth, dk-2001 bass has this exuberant energy to it, and manages to be deep, spacious and agile all at the same time. Sounds like a really nice club sound system with this kaleidoscopic top end. Not the way I’d describe the LZs, though there’s nothing egregiously wrong with them, they just don’t hard wire me into the music the way some of my other sets do.

Yeah I have the lz a6 and that completely destroyed the minis so much that I don't even use it anymore. Reason I asked about the a6 mini was because that seems to be the only iem we both have.

@DUNU-Topsound What is the bore diameter of these? I have small ear canals so trying to find what tips I can get (assuming the same as always being that the supplied smallest tips are still too big). Does the Spinfit CP360 SS fit? Any of the Comply tips?

The diameter is around 4.5 mm, and this is true across all our DK series models (DK-2001, DK-3001 PRO, DK-4001, 17th Anniversary Limited Edition model, except for the original DK-3001).

We include SpinFit CP145 tips with the DK-4001 and 17th Anniversary Limited Edition model, whereas CP360 tips are included with the DK-3001 PRO.

So yes, CP360 SS will fit (although it has a bore size of 3.6 mm, the tips are designed to work with nozzle sizes between 4 to 5.5 mm in diameter), but because stems are short, they won't go all the way down to the bottom. In our experience, the tips still stay on, however. We do include a small pack of silicone spacer rings with the DK-3001 PRO to prevent any slippage, however.

Customers of ours have let us know that AZLA Sedna EarFit, EarFit Light, and EarFit Light Short tips also fit (and sound) well with the DK series. They come in an SS size variant as well, with the SS size diameter being 10.4 mm (S size is 11.2 mm), versus SpinFit CP360 at 10.5 mm (SS) and 11 mm (S).

@DUNU-Topsound Thank you!

The Earfit Short SS might do the job.

Best place for an Australian to buy these things?

MTMT Audio are in HK and have the full selection. I’ve ordered successfully from them a couple of times. Using the Earfit Lights (L!) right now. I get fantastic sub bass extension and slam with Azlas on the DK-2001. Well worth it.
