I've been comparing the DK3001BD to the Prestige LTD. I'm someone who really enjoys a spacious and detailed (micro-detailed) sound but lately I have been starting to appreciate warmth and richness to sound - i.e. if timbre sounds natural I'm more willing to accept sacrifices in micro-detail retrieval.
I've also learned to appreciate different kinds of detail. Detail in bass and lower mids which is more about texture and feel Vs detail in the upper mids and highs which is the ability to present intricate sounds around the edges of the fundamentals that can sometimes be masked by warm tunings. I've not found an iem that can excel at both. Sound just doesn't work that way. So when you speak of detail, the question in my mind is what kind of detail are you looking for?
The DK3001BD leans towards the latter whereas the Prestige LTD leans to the former. Both to me are great all rounders and I feel seriously fortunate to be able to enjoy music on both of these. There are times when each shows me something the other can't. They are perfect complements to each other.
One thing that I can't enjoy is sibilance... Fortunately I can't recall experiencing sibilance on either of these although the DK has gotten slightly closer to that point in some moments than the LTD - (for reference I heard the Glacier once and did experience sibilance so I didn't listen to it very long. I'd like to give them another try in light of the recent positive reviews they have been getting but that was my first impression)
As it stands I think I'm at endgame with my current collection which includes also includes the SA6 MKII, mega5est, Deuce, EM10, Fan 3 and a few planars and single DDs... the DK3001BD sits somewhere near the top of that pile and really has its own unique sound whereas some of the others can sound more similar to each other than different.
