anyone able to tell me if a dt880 600ohm can be driven with an ipod? im not interested in hearing things like "yes, but it will sound like crap" i simply want to know if i can get a useful volume out of them, i know people have driven the 250ohm version out of an ipod through searching the forum but havent seen anything about the 600ohm version. if anyone has a pair of these and is willing to try it out with an ipod or DAP of any sorts i would appreciate it, thanks.

I have used the 250ohm version with iPod - you need to turn the volume up all the way. Either buy 32ohm version or get an amp.

The 250ohm version sounds like crap from an iPod - I know you said you don't care, but you will.  They sounds ATROCIOUS.

I have just got the dt 990 600 ohm, havnt got amp for it yet, tried it on my iPhone and they work but the volume is very low

Yeah... more or less what he said for the 600 ohm as well. You probably will not like the results of iPod alone. I don't.

Don't use them with ipod. Not a good idea.
