I will be using these mostly on the go, unamped out of my iphone 3gs (i am entertaining a portable amp as an upgrade). I will also use them at home out of a mixer or an onkyo stereo receiver from a computer. I don't mind the bulk of the dt880 and i find them really comfy so I would only consider the t50p if yall think they would sound better than the others on-the-go. I could get either the dt880 or the esw9 for 260 or the t50p for 300. Phones I have liked in the past are ue sf5p, tf10p, and the Grado and MS line. The only reason I am shying away from the grado is its openness, i've heard the dt880 is significantly more isolated (correct me if im wrong!!!). Not a big fan of the shure sound.

DT880 is semi-open.  I'd say it lowers ambient noise by about 2.1dB, LOL!
 
ESW9 is $219 from Adorama Camera, an authorized AT dealer.  I sold mine recently, prefer my modded 7509HD.

thanks for the info, I think I might go for that and pick up a pair of dt48e later on. Does anyone have anything to say about SQ though? would the dt880 be worth the extra cash? like i said the portability factor is not an issue for me in terms of bulk and fit. Thanks!
