Hi!

Two questions please!

1) I have a Fiio M9. The LDAC Bluetooth at its highest quality skips when connected to WiFi is there a fix for this I am on OS 1.0.2

2) Using Qobuz - how do I set my external 400gb Micro SD card as the destination for Ofiline Qobuz files (I don't want them going to the internal 2 gig storage (I think they are going to the right place actually)

Thank you
Dear friend,

Do you mean that when using LDAC-sound quality first and turning on the Wifi at the same time, the output would be stutter?

You could switch from storage-my Qobuz-storage location.

Best regards

Hello I have a question about my Fiio X5 III. In my headphones there is not much bass, even when I turn up the low frequencies in the EQ. The only way I have found to produce louder bass, is the VIPER effect Dynamic System. When I do this, the bass is louder, but still not enough.

I also have a Fiio Andes E07K. When I use the X5 as a preamp and the Andes as the amp, I get much louder bass. Doesn't the X5 have slightly more power than the Andes? I bought the X5 to replace the Andes/Player combination I was previously using.

I found a thread where a user mentioned that the X5 III isn't very bass heavy because of the DAC used. Could you reccomend me a different Fiio DAP that will deliver bass on par with the Fiio Andes E07K?

Thanks in advance for your help!! :)

Dear friend,

We will add a +/12dB dynamic EQ in our FiiO Music on Android / X7/ X7II/ X5III in later firmware update. You may have a try at that time. Or you could try other APP for check?

Best regards

Unfortunately I have a short window to return the X5III, and it could be a very long time before this firmware update comes out. Could you possibly recommend a different Fiio DAP with a warmer bass signature and at least 220mW/32ohm. Similar to the AndesE07k, but with the ability to play music?

Thank you very much for your assistance, and very fast response! :)

I think the FiiO CS are probably puzzled by your observation that the Andes had more bass than the X5iii with a bass effect on... Do you not also have bass boost on the Andes turned on for this to happen?

Yes, I do have the bass turned up partially on the Andes. I get what you're saying, using the bass effect + the Andes boost is doubling the bass, but I don't think that's the case. If I run say, an Iphone to the Andes, it kicks hard. No matter what configuration I use with the X5, I cannot make it hit hard UNLESS I enable the Dynamic System filter while hooked to the Andes. The built in X5 EQ on it's own does very, very little to affect the sound at all, mids/higs included. I myself am extremely surprised by this, but the low end is a point that I cannot live without.

I found http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=42544 on the Fiio forums where other users were experiencing the same issue, with this interesting bit.
The Wolfson WM8740 DAC chip in Fiio X3 definitely has an advantage in the low and mid regions as compared to the X5III's AKM AK4490 DAC. Wolfson DACs are known to be warmer, bodied and more musical (early generations of Apple iPod used Wolfson DACs). AKM DACs, like those from Sabre ESS, have better resolution, clarity, soundstage and PRaT. However, don't expect big, fat bass and bodied mids from these chips.

The Fiio X5III is actually tuned "warmer" than many AKM-based DAPs, like Astell and Kern AK380 for example (which also uses two AK4490 chips). Just that, the inherited sound signature of AKM DACs cannot be changed beyond a certain threshold. Nonetheless, engineers can fine-tune the sound further using various filtering circuits, opamps and the implementation of tube buffer, but there is a limit of about 20-30% of how much can be tweaked.

How do I know all these? I build DACs as a hobby, therefore I am quite familiar with various DAC chipsets from different manufacturers and their sound signatures.

I am happy to pay more for a device with similar features, or an older model of X5 if that would produce the low end i'm looking for. I have had difficulty getting good advice on this, and I sincerely appreciate your time!!

1) I am finding that 192k 24bit files downloaded to Qobuz on my M9 have "crackle"/ glitch sounds on them. The 96k files are fine.

2) I dont seem to be able to delete albums or playlists from Qobuz

3) The operation of Qobuz is slow with buttons taking too long to respond. Can you please improve the operation of Qobuz?

Thanks for adding TuneInRadio to the whitelist!

Installed the new firmware 1.2.2 of the X5 Gen3 with high hopes that it may solve the issue of useless volume knob which not able to do its job since 1.2.1, but this new FW didn't solve the issue - still remains same.
