Do you still use a portable CD Player??

I've logged some lawn time now with my resurrected PCDP (the above mentioned Sony). From a sound perspective, a definite improvement, but not as much as I'd expect.

Also, it reminded me of why we went to PMPs in the first place. I have to have the CD's with me. I have to put it in the player. When its done I have to take it out. So much work!!

Then there's ADD effect. If I don't like what I'm listening to I can't just skip to another selection on a whim. No, there's all that work in swapping out the discs!! The player forces me to stick with a disc all the way to the end, a habit I've gotten out of lately.

I'm of an age that my first music purchase was Sgt. Pepper's on an 8-track from the local Penney's store with money that I begged off my mother. It is amazing how spoiled we (I) get with these technology changes.

For those who have Sony PCDPs: does the remote control work when using the optical out?

I am looking to buy an NE20 + iBasso D10

On some it does on others it dont, depends on if they have a seperate line-out jack or if it is the same as the headphone jack. On my D-NE920 (which is the cheaper version of the NE20) it is the same jack so no remote with optical. Given the placement of the buttons and no unit display I can see why you want to use the remote with the NE20.

You could try and get a D-NE920. It is technically and sq wise the same unit just thicker (less sexy) but with a nice display and buttons on the lid so no need to use a remote.
