(new to the audio scene so bear with me.)

I was going to purchase the 250ohms DT770 Pro for phone use as well as PC use but I realised that you need a hell of a powerful and expensive amp for them to work. So I decided to downgrade and maybe get the 80ohm version instead. Will I require an amp for these to perform to the maximum capability on my PC(whilst im home) and iPhone X(whilst commuting).

The motherboard I have is an Asus Maximus vii Ranger and it has a amp built into the motherboard I think. I also have 5.1 speakers connected into the Motherboard which takes up 3 3.5's (orange, black and green)

if I need an amp which one would you recommend I get?

I want to be able to use these headphones whilst I commute as well as whilst i'm on my PC.

if you have any recommendations please let me know.

Mobile Phones are not nearly powerful enough to drive quality Earphones or Headphones. You may get some Volume but you won’t get Quality Sound.

I would recommend a Headphone (Amp / Dac) as they are purpose built and will give you far better sound.

If you are an iPhone user I would recommend the Fiio Q1Mk2. https://www.fiio.co.in/products/fiio-q1-mark-ii-portable-amplifier-dac

It’s fairly cheap, portable and offers good sound quality for its price.

Sounds good however I have been doing some research and I dont know which amp to pick for PC and mobile use.

1. FiiO Q1ii (2nd Gen) DAC and Headphone Amplifier - £88

2. FiiO E17 for K – Headphone Amplifier – Black - £89

3. FiiO A3 (E11 K), portable amplifier for headphones, black - £45

4. FiiO - E10K Olympus USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier - Black - £60

What are the differences and which would you recommend?

Here is a useful read up on the Fiio mk2. If you have iphone its your best choice from your lineup. The others in your list I would not bother with if it was me.

E10k will be a bit weak and maybe lacking features you want. The A3 is a portable headphone amp and not designed for pc use.

All versions of the DT770 headphones really need to be used with a decent headphone amplifer, to sound their best.

No, you do not need one. At best it will make a 5% difference if you have the ability to hear said difference. I run my DT 770 through my LG G7 and it works as intended. I don't usually listen to them at home, but they don't sound different enough to make me bring a DAC into work. If you want one, I'm sure the options you've found will all suit your purposes just fine.

Headphone (Amp / Dacs) have more benefit than merely volume increase. They also add additional functions such as hardware based toggles for Gain (Input Voltage) and Bass Boost.

This allows you to drive Headphones / IEMs and In Ears with greater efficiency and clarity, which is important for higher fidelity listening devices.

In addition you will have 2 primary outputs:
3.5mm unbalanced Audio jack for standard unbalanced driver based audio devices.

2.5mm balanced Audio jack for balanced driver based devices. Which is arguably the much better and purer sounding option if available.

So in any case a quality Amp / Dac will be a worthy investment I think.

Based on what i've read apparently amps help a hell of a lot on mobiles. When I use my current astro a40tr's on my iphone x, they have no bass at all and sound incredibly weak.

The Fiio Q1mk2 has a max output of ≥11 mW（300Ω / THD+N＜1%) so it should work ok yes.
