How many times can we reinvent the same headphone. Almost as bad as Grado. Can you please address the lack of bass for the last 20+ years in all of your headphones?

I think I’ll just wait for the S3..........

But more seriously, I might have been interested in these if it were not for the fact that I’ve just bought the Neumann NDH 30! I suspect the new HD660S2 might be a more fun listen, but I doubt that they are better in any way.
Neumann/Sennheiser have set the bar very high for competitors with this model...

Perhaps this is their response to the open NDH30, but given the solid build (housing/headband) of the 30, I agree that the 30 would be hard to beat, even if they are using their 30 designed driver.

I really, really liked the neutral sound of the 660s but I sold them after two weeks -- the bass was barely present. It's like having the best-sounding guitar in the world but it can only play four strings. Not good, is it? I cannot get my head around how Sennheiser (of all the houses) thought the 660s was fit for the audiophile market. Very disappointing.
If the new 660s2 has a better bass presence, then it's gonna be awesome. Fingers crossed.
It’s too bad you didn’t like the bass response of the 660s. To me it’s just right.

Thank you for the sensible post. I think Sennheiser headphones should officially be called, "lacking subs."

Can we get something that can compete with the likes of Focal Clear OG, but with greater sound stage? You know, 800S with good tonal balance and call it a HD850 or whatever. Not something like 800 you'd have to get a tube amp to dull the highs. Not excited for another variation of the 6 series. Sennheiser keep throwing these variations of the 6 series.

Give us something that has good resolution, imaging, and bass response, that actually is some kind of progress.

Anyway, somebody measure and compare these to verify their marketting graph.

So some reviewers said the voice coil pipe's height on the hd660s2 seems to be less compared to the hd660s. And the total impedance is double so I think the voice coil now is made thinner, right? I am not a physicist but according to what I know the more wire winding the more electromagnetic control that is equivalent to more finer detail in the sound.

Unfortunetaly I can't relate to some complaints here, I Never had a bass problem with any Sennheiser, I always use EQ. And after EQ, no other headphones can compare.
but I guess the 660S2 is for the many people who never heard about EQ.

I think this warrants a try for sure. I didn't like the 660S for multiple reasons. I think the 600 and 650 did a better job. So expecting a V2 for the 600 would have made sense to me with better bass and sub bass. Maybe this changes things for the better, who knows.

I do think they need to come up something beyond that HD800 though, it has been an eternity now. That thing needs bass, warmth and the tonal changes these guys are doing for the 660S.
