I really, really liked the neutral sound of the 660s but I sold them after two weeks -- the bass was barely present. It's like having the best-sounding guitar in the world but it can only play four strings. Not good, is it? I cannot get my head around how Sennheiser (of all the houses) thought the 660s was fit for the audiophile market. Very disappointing.
If the new 660s2 has a better bass presence, then it's gonna be awesome. Fingers crossed.

We sold like a bajillion of them. But just because it sold very well in the market doesn't mean you should like it. And just because you don't like it doesn't mean it cannot be a hit. Just different flavors for a different tastes and we respect that. But if you liked everything else about the 660S except for the bass, the 660S2 might hit the sweet spot. We hope you get to try it 👍👍

Bravo Sennheiser! Especially for keeping the price reasonable.

These with a Bottlehead crack will be a great system for someone on a tight budget.
Highly enjoyed them from my BHC with speedball fed by my tt2!!!

$600 is reasonable? For a tweaked HD6whatever? You could get the NDH30 for about that.

Presentation in the 1st post sounds very appealing and I salute the return to a warmer tuning and the 300 ohm, but I think I'll stay with my HD6XX for the 10% time that I spend with cable headphones these days. Bluetooth took over for me, only got time for headphones on-the-go.
Oh and I paid some 200 bucks for the HD6XX if I remember well.

I think I’ll just wait for the S3..........

But more seriously, I might have been interested in these if it were not for the fact that I’ve just bought the Neumann NDH 30! I suspect the new HD660S2 might be a more fun listen, but I doubt that they are better in any way.
