What's the diff between using wood or aluminium? as in

The aluminum one is wonderful, I've paid 99 dollars for metal rings and pads

I think they're very pretty and sound soooo good..

99 US dollar, I paid about 72 Euro; the pads are the grado ones I suppose, or at least a perfect copy.
I can't compare with the GS1000 original ones. Sorry.
