Nice, I just ordered one. The only thing is you get black or brown options and the picture is blue lol.

Kind of disappointed with the case. PU leather is a plastic material. If it's going to look like leather, I think it should be leather. I actually love the way the player looks and would be very happy with some kind of simple flexible transparent plastic sleeve like my WM1A came with. Or some kind of transparent crystal case would be awesome. Well, that's just me.

Just got an email from penon saying they messed up with the color options. Only available in blue as seen in pics.
The DTR1 starts to get more and more popular, if we can say so... The DAP itself constantly receives fw updates so far and with the case coming soon or later, the DTR1 continues on its way becoming the ultimate badass DAP when it comes to pure SQ. My Calyx M still gets listening time (and I love it), but the clean and almost limitless power of the DTR1 is addictive. Point of no return guys![]()
Intriguing... Also because Calyx was one of the options I had in mind ..I recently Lost an opus #3, hence looking for some detailed but organic and Sparkling DAP..
One thing I did not get though, DSD Is not native or limited? I ask since I have a lot.of converted SACD ISOs...
Say, I am in the fence between Calyx and Prelude, I actually listen and love Alien+, acoustic research AR M200, and loved ( as long as It worked) the opus 3. I did not like instead QLS QA361, Fiio M11 and recently trying out iBasso DX203, with average sarisfaction and very scarce engagement...

May wish to give the Calyx M a go since the rest of the players mention have somewhat similar sound tonality (though varies between dry, dynamic and airy in their presentation). The Calyx M has a coloured, dynamic and euphoric signature which can be quite pleasing.

Somehow the Prelude with final E5000 pairing keeps pulling me in for those long listening sessions at home. There’s really little to ask for in this combination. While I can’t say this is endgame stuff for me, it does keeps me very very satisfied and in no hurry to upgrade or move on.

between Calyx and Prelude, don't know how close they are but basically price difference Is minimal and Prelude is "new" while Calyx Is a dated DAP.
In general I am looking for something to be used mainly in bed/relax time, 2hrs sessions max, no Need for BT, WiFi USB DAC etc... Usually Just browse by folder, choose an album and hit play. No artworks etc.. I am used to basic UI like Alien +, Aune M2 pro, AR M200, etc.
Usually using balanced but not "bound" to this as long as separation Is good, love forward and intimate vocals, lots of details (i.e. the pedal register "humph" on certain piano sessions), not dark but not needed very airy and "arena" like soundstage, engaging and Sparkling notes, not laidback.
In this sense Opus #3 for me was almost perfect in terms of SQ and tuning, Just hated the clumsiness of operations in terms of UI, and the dreadful Sharp edges (thinking of which, also Shozy alien plus share same features...It might be a sign lol).
All in all, I reckon I am not that audiohile guy After all, and not ready for the so called "reference sound"

No idea never tried. But I have a feeling this one will compete with the big boys sound wise.
Hi Mimouille, Just out of curiosity, do you ever tried soundaware M2Pro in the end? And, in case, how this would compare against DTR1? Merci bien.

Ah ... good points raised.
While the Calyx M sounds good, the interface could take some getting used to.
Not to mention the battery life is about 4-5hrs without the extra battery pack, making recharge more frequent and ultimately requiring faster battery replacement. Provided there are parts left for replacement for a player that's 4 years or older.
Based on your requirements, the DTR1 Prelude seems to fit better. UI is simple and easy to pick up. No fuss too.
Runs up to 9-10 hrs on low to mid gain, lesser on high gain. The rest of the traits i feel are more dependent on the ear monitors used, but with the clean power supplied by the Prelude, it should bring out the best of most monitors.

Yes of course monitors are important; I "feel" It might be a good Guess to use Prelude with a pair of Audeze isine 20 I have...

Btw, I have an i teresting option for a Calyx M with battery pack... But of course the portability of Prelude would be Better... Still don't get the main differences in terms of signature between the two..
