Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

When I purchase the D9200, I plan on getting the Stax 007 pads eventually based off the recommendations from Zolkis and a friend I have from Reddit with that set up. At the $175-$190 price point for a set, I'd rather have genuine leather of the 007 than the synthetic leather of the 009 pads. Not sure yet how I will mount them yet whether the ring or some sort of double sided adhesive tape that Zolkis recommended. Also plan on seeing how they sound and feel with the TH900 while I'm at it.

What's the story on the Stax 007 pads?

If you mean the reason, just curiosity. I want to try them on the D9200 and the TH900 and see for myself if there is a comfort or sound enhancement. I decided to order the Denon's from Moon, I hope they are in stock like the website states they are. I'll report back when I've had a chance to get some hours in.

Glad you found a tax free option. That's great! Definitely report back.

I tried those, they don't fit the ear cups tightly and sort of have 'slack' around the edges. IIRC they also rotated a little after some time as they're too big to be completely secured

Does anyone here prefer the Denon x200 over the Foster driver headphones?
Actually I do, yes. While the TH900 cups are a work of art, the slightly sharp treble kept me from listening for longer. The D9200 is more relaxed in that regard… though I seldom use it, I have to admit that I’m completely happy with one of my M-100s

What's the preferred amp for the d9200 at the moment? I think they need a little bit of relaxation and warmth. Would love to have a sound somewhere between the d9200 and the d7000. I've seen people say the a90 amp makes phones sound cold and boring and I sort of remember them sounding perfect with the chord mojo but I got sick of running out of batteries and sold it. Is there a reasonably priced amp that can synergize with d9200 better than A90?

Mine sound fine out of the HiFiMan EF400 or the Bifrost/Asgard3.

That said, seems we have different sound signature preferences. I'm liking the sound signature 'as is' so am not finding myself looking for the 'relaxation and warmth' that you are.

I found difficult to pick a best amp among the several I have because they do not seem to scale much and need little power. At the end the V200 is the one I am using most often as it warms up a bit the highs, while the Flux Audio FA-10 provides a little larger soundstage which I think this headphone could use.
However they sound great also from a modest iFi Go Blu in balanced mode. It is certainly one of the main selling points of the Denon x200 line: you really do not need to spend much in amplification.

Denon AH-D9200 with the A&ultima SP2000SS player is the perfect combination for me.
